Addons for console.

Pretty silly question as I'm sure the answer is "Ha, yeah right!", but do you guys think they will ever allow addons for this game on the consoles? I'm not even sure who it would ultimately be up to, ZOS or microsoft/sony. All I know is it would sure be nice to have some addons of help with quality of life issues. Things like a overlay mini map, get set savers, a mini map addon that shows skyshards, lore books, and material locations, a sorter for personal/bank/guild bank inventory. I usually only play my mmos on pc for this vary reason, but ESO doesn't support cross-servers.

no, and if they do it will probably be a "DLC" where you pay $1.99 to download it.

they just need to actually put some of these things in game already. i mean if they had text chat they could have a tab that shows damage and healing numbers like most other MMOs have

Yeah it is weird not being able to see the numerical value of your damage. I remember looking in the options for a "display damage" option and found nothing.

If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

It's not about whether it's hard, or not. It's about convenience. Hence the my statement about quality of life.

At that point you're not really even playing the game, you're gaming the game. Sure, the UI could use a bit of work in some areas, but not at the expense of giving some players advantage over others (especially if/when then charge for it).

Consoles are very much about a level playing field, and allowing addons changes this. Damage numbers are nice, but it is obviously a design choice to not include them. No former ES game has ever had them, and just because you had them in other games does not mean this game is deficient without them. Can't tell when someone is resistant to an attack? Oh well. I bet it's pretty hard to tell if someone is wearing a kevlar vest under their suit, too. Keeping track of gear and other "mundane" tasks are part of the game. Maybe if you're on your fourth alt I could understand the complaint, but you get no sympathy from me about getting bored with it.

That's not even to mention that you'd have to tone down everything somewhat (I'm sure it's quite optimized for each console) just to put some marks on your map. IMHO showing materials is downright cheating the game, since I have to spend a skill point to get keen eye for a small fraction of the same benefit.

As with PC, if an addon is determined to break TOS ZOS would say certain addon are prohibited. And, as far as I know, this issue hasn't come up with the overlays addons available on PC currently. Regardless, these were just suggestions I've come up with. People will have different ideas of what they consider essential. Just last night we were doing a vet dungeon and the topic came up about not being able to mark targets to notate kill order for the group. Again, these are quality of life things. There is only an advantage if other can't do the same thing. As long as the addons are available to everyone it's not a problem. People can increase their mount speed, or carrying capacity, by using the NPC located in stables, or you can buy them 10 at a time from the crown shop. There isn't any advantage in this as anyone can buy them from the crown shop if they wanted. The same would apply to skyshard and lore book locations. You could download or buy the addon if you wanted it. Material location would just show you were the nodes spawn, it wouldn't tell you that the node is active. More of a history map of where other people found materials.

I find the items on the crown store pretty convenient, don't you? XP pots, mount speed, carry capacity, and stamina, respecs etc. The convenience of buying a mount instead of saving up 40k for a decent mount.

It's possible, yes. If Bethesda can make full-on mods available for Fallout 4 on the Xbox, then they could certainly allow console add-ons for ESO. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
