Voice chat not working since release

juliank1990erb16_ESO
Yea, no talky talky for me since release. Rly annoying. Plus ZOS support isn't responding to any of my tickets.
I know there are alot of threads concerning this, but I couldn't find any with a reply from ZOS.

Next try ZOS!

Interesting - I tried talk for the first time this weekend. Used the in-box earplug mic plugged into the controller, worked perfectly.

I adjust my Voice connections via Social in-game settings so I'm in the channel I want, making sure my mic switch is off most of the time only on when I wish to speak.

Any details of what you are using and trying so we can help, or are you just here to voice your angst ?
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Uhm, I press the "Options"-Button, select "Social", afterwards "Voice Chat" and then the game tells me "Voice Chat is unavailable blablabla go to help.elderscrolls.com for further information".

I don't know of any other way to use voice chat, that's why I didn't provide any further information. srx

I seeing it reported over on Xbox forum as well, seems to be related to server load - but no, I don't have a solution sorry.

I dont rly care about what the problem is related to, I just want to get a statement from ZOS concerning this.

But as it seems like they still ignore this problem. ESO is done for me now, rly dissappointing.

Voice chat is completely unreliable for me too, (EU server).

Occasionally hear some broken distorted nonsense but usually don't hear anything even though the name tags of people speaking appear in the corner of the screen.

I quite often run with four or five friends and we have to resort to ps4 party chat to be able to communicate.

But then hey, Zenimax has always fixed problems by denying that said problems exist, at least with console they can't tell us that we need to disable our firewall or update our drivers as they've been doing to pc players for the past year.

I can actually verify that voice does not work consistently in party mode in specific for me on xbox one version ... I have been having to use the Xbox party to chat not in game which takes away from being able to make friends or potential guildies.

If you're in a guild, by default your voice channel switches to guild chat and you have to manually select the open chat channel to communicate with randoms via voice. Some people may have been ninja-invited to a guild with few or no activv e players w/mics, meaning you're stuck in their chat channel and need to switch out.

Yup, and thats a problem in itself, it shouldn't default to anything and it should remain where the user sets it.

Everybody knows the game has voice chat, having it ding ding dinging at us every time we zone or login is unnecessary and its annoying to have to yet again set it where we want it (off because its pants and doesn't work).

Oh how I miss text chat (:

have you even tried to reasearch the problem or are you going to just pout here in the forums?

in what way do u expect me to "research" the probem? i searched the forum for other ppl/threads with this problem and i found some. but what exactly do u mean by "research"? hope u dont forget that im a costumer and its definitly not my job to find the issue with this voice chat garbage.

why do u think it needs to be asked whether im using the mic correctly? whats the points of ur post?
are u some kind of related to zos support? u sound exactly like they do.

and yea i made up this thread to "just pout it here on the forums", because as i said, zos is giving exactly 0 *** about this problem. not to mention they also deny the existence of it.

oh btw. no i never use wayshrines in this game. no one needs that crap kek HEHE U GOT IT

My Chat works fine for me.

Except the sound does not.. Its like everyone is always on full volume even when i turn voice down to zero.

And on xbone... Kinnect + always full blast voice = OMG i want to jump off a bridge.
  • juliank1990erb16_ESO
just got an update from zos support. they told me that the update they mentioned before, concerning a fix for those vc problems, was only released on xbone and not on ps4. at this time they do not know, when this mystical fix will be available for ps4.
  • domlynchb16_ESO

Sometimes voice chat gets messed up for ps4/xboxone if your connection's nat type is restricted. Two things you can do, use an ethernet to plug directly into your modem, or port forward/port switch your console's main ports and eso's ports (do not get those port numbers from zenimax, they are bad at it).

my nat is set to 2. im using a wired connection.

last update from their support after sending me the same list of solutions that didnt work out any time before for the second time:

I am sorry the advice the prior agent provided did not resolve your issue. As he stated, we are aware of an issue some players are having with voice chat and we are working to find a resolution for this problem. We are definitely sensitive to how inconvenient this issue is for our players and we are working as hard as we can to get it solved as soon as we can.

In the meantime, the only steps we can suggest are those that we've sent you already.

Thank you for your continued patience,
    Dina

I don't know that this has anything to do with this, but while trying to disable area/voice channel (unsuccessfully, I might add) I came across "enable quick chat" in the options menu - maybe yours is set to off? Such a bummer when in-game features don't work properly.

I just want to be able to leave the voice chat system altogether!

    Sorry for you guys, GL.
