We're not against a holiday event... we're against a CHRISTMAS event. And Saturalia shouldn't be celebrated in Orsinium, it's a Wayrest holiday. That's where it should be celebrated.

Saturalia is a little bit christmas-based though:
"Originally a holiday for a long forgotten god of debauchery, it has become a time of gift giving, parties, and parading." - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Calendar

Too bad that ZOS said they won't implement this kind of event. They're generally pretty cool and make the world more alive if done right (without too much real christmas symbols, for example).

I'd have no problem with Lore based Holidays.

I don't want to see a repeat of the Ewok Festival of Love though...........

I actually liked that event in SWG. I put the rewarded vendor in my Life Day furnace in my store. :D

The horror..... I liked that they had events, but that one was just.... Oh my... With hearts and wings and all manner of nastiness! Talk about Star Warsy and Iconic! Lmao...

The real holiday should be midsummer drunkfest with real Nord Geirmund Hall style, not some pumpkin day or whatever. The grim grip of long winter has finally ceased and endless light pours in throughout the nights. First potatoes from a dung heap are served with pickled fish with lots of mead.

For midwinter it's all dark magick, porridge and slaughtering of hogs and goats. The weather turns colder than on top of Forelhost. It may be that sun doesn't return ever and blood offers of Jol Bock may be only way to save the day, literally.

No hohos into this game, never.

Well they could turn Orsinium into a Grinch town that stole all the holidays in Tamriel....they are green, it could work ;)
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

I'd rather have biome-appropriate seasons in the game (fall leaves, winter snow flurries and bare trees) than holidays. Everything just feels too... perpetually mid-April...

I think they should do it, Holidays are great way to lure ES fans to the ESO.
Real world holidays are a great way to make TES fans shake their heads at ruined lore. The religious side of Christmas makes absolutely no sense in Tamriel. The cultural side would be tacky and out of place.

I'll gladly participate in Old Life and New Life festivals, though. Some kind of winter solstice celebration would work too, as long as it doesn't include fat bearded men in red costumes.

Do not celebrate holidays in general, let alone Christmas.

Would not want to spend my time in game doing poorly-programmed events to celebrate a holiday founded on religious oppression and needing to stomp out the pagan beliefs in an area by making up new iconography to try and distract the "heathens."

It is difficult to wrap my head around such a holiday.

Can respect that it is a tradition for some people, but it is not my tradition and do not appreciate the obligation of observing it in the eyes of people who feel even "Happy Holidays" is the spoiling of Christmas Spirit by an infidel.

Have no investment in any Tamtrielic holidays, as my characters would not be role-played for their participation in such festivities.

It is commonly believed that there are an infinite number of such planes [Oblivion planes], though Tamrielic scholars are aware of only a small handful.

On the 24th, the Daedric prince of gift giving, Santa Claus, opens a portal to his Oblivion plane "North Pole".

Christmas doesn't exist in Tamriel.... might have something to do with the fact the Christ(mas) doesn't exist in the Elder Scrolls lore ?

    This isn't WoW ...

I'm confused at where this idea (Orsinium being Christmas themed) even came from.

The only connection I can see is that there will probably be snow in at least part of the zone. But that's because it's in the mountains in the north of the continent. By the same logic all of Skyrim could be Christmas themed, but I doubt anyone expected that.

(On the wider topic of holidays I would like to see them introduce some of Tamriels holidays into the game, but no real-life ones regardless of their origin or modern format. It just wouldn't make any sense at all for people in a totally separate world to celebrate holidays created on Earth.)
