That cheap P.O.S. usually breaks within the first ten hours of use...it did for me.
They really only even put it into the box to "get you hooked" on voice-chatting with people....and then to sell their $100 version, Sony Gold Headset. (Though I got my Sony-Gold for just $50, on sale.)EQUALIZE ALL PLATFORMS!

I saw they already have phrases like, "kill the adds" that you can hot key. They should let you customizes those phrases so you could type "VR14 Tank LF Pledges" or "WTB Bugloss".2

Zensonar✭✭✭YesESO is not a FPS where you only really need to communicate with a fireteam or clan, and where voice is sufficient. It's an open world multiplayer roleplaying game. It has entirely different communication requirements in order for its basic defining features to be used to their full potential.1

✭NoI am really starting to like the voice option all around, There is already a PC for Text chatting. Not sure why it has to be on the Console. However, adding it as an option I guess is fine. Though I believe you will see a quick divide in communication with people choosing not to partake in voice or text.
Something to consider would be a tag by the name that stated if the person was voice only or text only, or both so you are not spending 20 min trying to get someones attention that has the text option off or minimized. I will more than likely always have it minimized. I have learned to use voice so it is not needed.

really like your idea of having a way to tell if someone is using voice or text. Right now however if someone is not using voice or is in a different channels you have to send them an xbox live message or PSN message. So you are not really making things more difficult getting a hold of someone.0 -

i dont see the problem. if someone wants to use voice so what, they can talk all they want while i reply to them via text. i use to do this all the time when i played WoW. everyone was on teamspeak, chatting it up for raids while i text'd in the text chat. made no big difference except it was funny when they asked me stuff via TS and everyone in guild didnt know what they asked and it was just me randomly typing responses confusing everyone and it was a jolly good time.
text chat is good, lets have text chat for every one can communicate voice or text and it will be meshed together like a happy family

Insulting. DCUO and FFXIV prove you wrong anyway..... I have to admit, the devs do listen to reason, if not to the forums. Thank you for "nameplates", a welcome addition to immersion, as well as the text chat box for PS4, which only comes on the screen when I need it too, and helps this gameplay SO MUCH MORE then without it. you do know pretty much all text chat boxes in MMOs are closeable to where its just a tiny icon on the bottom of the screen or are extremely transparent to where you cant even see it and doesnt block any gameplay unless you click or highlight the text chat box.

thats one thing id rather not have is hearing everyone everywhere in that zone talking at once about anything and everything. text chat they can do that on because i can just minimize the chat box or ignore it completely voice chat id have to disable all the time than instead of when in a major city.4 -

Voice chat only works well if you can physically use it. For people with hearing impairments or speach impairments voip is completely useless. And there is no other form of communication for people unable to use voip.2 -

Yeah that little cheap piece of plastic? Thats barely a mic. And mics arent an excuse to remove a core social/communicative function from a game that is supposed to be a AAA MMO.
