I'm using a sorcerer. And I wonder where tanks get so much gold to buy/repair their armors?

I am primarily a tank and at v14 I can run a vet dungeon and come out with less than 50g repairs. Your comment is baseless.
I didn't choose tank life, tank life chose me.

Not so much baseless as a concern or curiousity.

Thing is NGP repair costs aren't really that bad and you should be able to make more than enough gold to come out with a profit regardless of class and how often you repair provided you actually loot or steal and fence or both.

Maybe that's cos you're v14. I'm a v1 sorcerer dps, when I run out of a group dungeon, I need hundreds of gold to repair.

It doesn't matter how much damage you take, your armor degradation is based on the amount of XP gained. I've tested this many, many times. As a VR14 I started out with 100% armor condition, killed groups of mobs instantly from range, took absolutely zero damage, and upon gaining 60k XP, my armor condition was reduced to zero. I took absolutely zero damage and never even got hit once, and all of my armor was gone and I was left with a max repair bill.

Also note that your armor repair bill has a maximum amount per piece that it will never exceed, depending on the level and quality of the armor piece. In full VR14 epic gear, at zero condition, my repair bill is always the same. I don't remember the exact amount off the top of my head, but it is around 2k.

hey man! most of the damage you get on your armor actually comes from getting exp/killing. since your all in a group and it counts as getting the same kills as everyone else there is basically no difference from a tank to a dps in armor damage=) (or even a healer for that matter)

    That sounds fair.
Sometimes I died a few times when solo, then my armor were in great damaged. I guess maybe dying or taking heavy attacks has sth to do with that too.

The trick is to repair often so that the price doesnt compound over time. If you take too long between repairs then youre going to drain your coffers.

That said, its not that hard to make money in this game. Walking out of Eastmarch I was broke after spending 12k on bank increases. Between the beginning of Riften and the end of Coldharbor, with the sale of two Dwemer Pages sprinkled on top, I have almost 60k Gold. Im not even playing the Trader Guild Market at all. So all of my gold is rolling in through Quests and Mobs with some Merchant Dumping in between. Im sure at some point as I close in on End-Game I'll have to turn to selling items in the Guild Stores, but for now I make 20-25k per zone. And typically keep the upkeep of armor under 1200 gold per zone as long as I dont hit a snag in a Dungeon. Typically repairs are in the 150-200 gold area.

The other thing I do is I build my own gear, except the medium and light items, from armor and weapons to the shields. By holding on to mats for traits, styles, tempers and constantly farming for ore and wood Im always stocked and ready to replace anything I out level.

This is how I keep my tank ready to go. And cut back on spending too much on repairs.

I'm thinking of create a char as tank. But I'm too poor to buy armors. Now I have a relief.

Tanks dont get any worse repair bills than the healers that never get hit.

At v1, you will be outgrowing your armor with the mob drops and quest rewards. Worrying about repair bill will be trivial when you replace your armor quite frequently.

In all my time playing, I have never ever yet had a loss through armor repair costs. I always net more loot then that...usually all the gold gained after selling off everything is about ten times the repair bill.

But yeah, the armor repair is dependent on XP gained, not on damage suffered. You can rack up repair cost just by crafting, you know... ;) So, tank or DPS, doesn't really figure into it.
