What do expect when VR ranks are removed

I see all these posts about the removal of VR ranks, but what do expect to change, Matt said at Quakecon it will be replaced with the champion system.
Jason said on an ESO live they are not revamping end game, just going to make it easier to access, I don't know if this has changed since he said this.

I can understand why it is taking a long time to remove the VR system everything in the game is tied to from loot, equipment, achievements, skyshards, it is not just push a couple of buttons and poof no more VR.

I think silver and gold will be in place, a lot of names will change we will be either level XX or champion XX. I am sure some changes will be made to the leveling curve.
I guess we will have to see what we really get I am just curious what others think, since most people just say remove the VR ranks and never give any kind of vision as to what they expect.

Little in the way of progression as Champion passives decrease eventually.

Personally, I think everything will become much more open, with no more "seemingly forced" linear direction through Cadwell's, then Craglorn, then Trials/PvP. I have a thread about how this could work over here.

I do hope that they open all areas to explore as you wish.

What to expect when VRs will be removed?

That whiny crying people will want all other lvls to be removed so everyone starts and ends at lvl1.

No grinding, everyone who worked hard to get to something will have it taken away, and lazy specimens of entitlement generation will get everything this way, because once everyone is brought to their level, they wont have to work anymore to go anywhere.

Just remove Gold and Silver with VRs and add some account-wide system to encourage Alt-making (Like SWTOR's legacy system, they are kind of trendy now and I believe future MMORPGs are gonna use them as well) and you have an awesome MMORPG, what others envy. One option is to remove Gold and Silver and when you hit lvl 50, it turns into openworld game, but I think ESO is wrong game for that. But I know they cant go with VRs forever, they just cant add materials every two level they add, imagine VR 70, theres 35 different materials for endgame.

I suspect some think that the VR levels will be split into an equivalent scaled level set so they will end up with more attribute points/skill points than what they started with. I.E. level 50 was like 100k xp, so 51 would be 120k xp.

I always took VR removal as, 50 is top level, thus those 13 extra skill points and attribute points (post 2nd change to VR) are gone. Gear should be scaled back and ebonized (that voidstone gear is now level 50 ebony) and as others mentioned, advancement is through gear and skyshard collection alone.

I see the removal of vet levels as very much a caveat emptor situation. I think that when/if they do remove them, they really need to lay out a detailed plan or they will lose a lot of political capital through buyer's remorse.
Due to a typo in the system, the area was accosted by the Daedric Prince Moar Lag Brawls.

To be honest at this point I'll just be superhappy if they remove vet ranks, period. Make lvl 50 max. Make my legendary vet 14 gear that took forever to acquire lvl 50, I honestly don't care if it means next time I want to roll an alt I won't have to dread Cadwell's Horrors.
I figure this would make a LOT of people unhappy because gear progression and all but with how unhappy vet ranks currently make people I really think even doing something like that would be better in the long run.

People will find something else to cry about, vet ranks are progression and there making it super easy to get them in the next patch, 15% less exp needed overall and boosting most ways to receive it, craglorn vet quests will give 80% more exp -_- , normal vet quests will give 50% more...

A bigger mess. Pessimistic to the last, however every change Zos have made so far has just created a bigger mess to the post level 50 progression and the game at large. In my mind I can only see Zos screw this up too.

I expect to LOL. There is no way they are going to remove VR ranks and not put some other progression mechanism in that will still leave those who never made VR 14 (16) or are unwilling to work to get it in the same position as before ranks where removed.

Either way everyone will still need to level up just via a different name and new mechanism still requiring work to advance. Anyone not maxed VR now will still be just as unable to compete and lacking progression "power" just like before.

Face it they are not going to remove VR and make everyone even at some new magical pony level 50 with no more progression advancement mechanism. All you people who want this are going to get is a semantically named change for progression advancement.

I think it's going to be silly if they make endgame at level 50. Just thinking of a bunch of new players that hit 50 quickly and try to join raids.

The 1-50 content is so easy anything works. They will have little idea of what they should do with their class to be competitive at end game. The VR grind is unnecessarily long and content lacking but it teaches you a lot about your character and helps you level your skills. At 50 you are still unlocking skills and passives.

After they remove VR it will be purely champion system based. A fresh level 50 player will have 0 champ points. You really need 90 champ points to be an effective dps (for the crit passive). At VR14 currently you will have a minimum of 65 champ points. I believe more due to enlightenment. So VR helps you toward that goal before you think you are end game ready.

Basically I think there needs to be some kind of way to measure progression after level 50 or people will get a false sense that they are ready for endgame and struggle.

But it's not like current vet levels prepare a person for endgame any if he's only doing Cadwell's/grinding. Vet mobs are just as easy as non vet so while fresh vet 10 player will have some CPs after finishing Cadwell's, he'll still be pretty much just as clueless as a level 50. Far as CP go, if the leveling changed I imagine the CPs would as well, would make sense to let players gain them starting with level 1 then.

Just to be clear, I agree ultimate progression shouldn't stop at lvl 50, but veteran leveling as it is now is absolutely horrible.

Well thankfully neither 'Cadwell's' is a prerequisite for either the Trials or Craglorn. The only real forced linear progress is Cadwell's Silver to get to Cadwell's Gold.

As long as I keep my attribute and skills points I got from vet levels I really don't care what happens. If they raise the cap more and I can get more skill and attribute points then I be gitty as a anime school girl watching senpai.

Assuming new PVE content is more difficult than preceding PVE content, I assume gear progression will start being tied to the number of champion points you have. This sword that does 1300 damage requires 200 CPs to equip. The next better sword that does 1400 damage will require 250 CPs to equip and so on. Same system for armor upgrades.

The game has to have gear progression linked with increases in content difficulty. Let's assume VR ranks are removed at the same time Orsinium is released and everyone is now a level 50. That is roughly Coldharbor and VR1 zone level of difficulty. The PVE game is already too easy as it is. Can you imagine how boringly easy the game will be if PVE content in Orsinium and beyond is also level 50 Coldharbout/VR1 level of difficulty?

That's what I feared to be honest... It happened with WoW and turned into a super casual game :(
