Go play skyrim. If you're not enjoying this game, I don't see any reason for you to play it any more.

Playing with like minded ppl make this game amazing, I was in a great guild for my first char and we had so much fun for the first 6 months , then the guild kinda broke up when we all got to vet content , just one of those things (we burnt out a bit)

I've come back and although not found the same kind of guild (yet) I just love the setting and the world and am hoping the same amount of fun will come..

I digress TLDR: find the right ppl to play with and this game is the best , if you try to do it all alone it becomes far too much and you can just burn out on it.

    Good luck!

clean up your hud, down to the bare minimum.

get interested in your character's story and the wacky adventure they are on.
story-wise, if you can accept the three alliances war, its a perfectly good reason you don't have a totally open world map

& try another character! different race, different class, different alliance... its fun!

I bought this game because I too fell in love with the TES universe mostly through Skyrim and when Bethesda announced Fallout4 and Dishonored2 were their next releases instead of ES6, I decided to give it a try even though I had never played a MMO. Currently am only soloing, but as I get more into it, I am slowly warming up to the idea of grouping and PvP. I am going to give the MMO part of the game an honest try. If it turns out not to be to my liking, the world is big enough to spend many hours developing an interesting character who goes on many exciting quests.

It is a MMORPG, so if you aren't into the MMO part, just focus on the RP part.

Game's pretty fun up until the Level 50 endgame.

Then it delves irreversibly into half-baked quests (Cadwell's quests) and endless grinding. If you're a fan of that, you'll continue to enjoy the game. If not, like me you'll spend much more time posting.

I felt the same way at first. Big fan of Skyrim and I had no experience with MMOs to speak of. Basically I was overwhelmed and lost and a little disappointed at first. I finally started listening to the Area Chats and found someone who was looking for a partner to grind levels and quest with so we grouped up, and that was super fun for me. Working on leveling and also grouping with people to do dungeons keeps me coming back. Working on some of the craft/skills (like provisioning or clothing making or the ever-popular blacksmithing) is neat too. If you want to link up and work on leveling, I'm happy to do so! I'm on NA xbox in the Ebonheart pact. Anyway, I hope you find your joy with it!

    Thanks man (hug)
You said you weren't interested in PvP but what about group content? Maybe join a guild and do dungeons and delves with guild mates. Trading is a lot of fun. You could join a trade guild and get involved there. The trading game is a world unto itself. I love it. Try different characters and play styles.

If you're completely averse to any group content it's gonna be a challenge. Good luck. I'm sure others are in your boat. This is my first mmo, but i have a lot of history with multiplayer shooters and co-op games, so i've really gotten into eso despite my primary attraction only being the elder scrolls world and lore. Who knows, the mmo stuff might grow on you.

If you politely ask the Devs to shut the game down for a week or so for everyone except you, they might allow you to experience the game entirely by yourself, which may feel more like Skyrim. Worth a shot if you really want to get the most out of that 55 euros you've invested into the game.

I don't think your post is stupid. It is understandable that many expect ESO to be Skyrim 2, even if it is clearly not. I enjoyed the game at first until the constant grinding began to take its toll. You have to grind just to spend your gold by running from guild trader to guild trader and still coming up empty for all the effort. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a quest because I had to spend my limited time fruitlessly grinding. Very little reward or progress unless you have hours of free time to devote to ESO.

    It is the ultimate grind.
