Templar build to stay alive and do DPS

So, new to MMO and ESO. Currently a VR5 Imperial Templar. I have made it this far with a fairly balanced character in distributing my health, stamina and magicka. But as I am going through Caldwell's Silver quests and just running quests in general, I am getting my ass handed to me. I was running a mostly heavy armor set, with whatever glyphs I could buy. Switched to a medium armor build, but still having same issues. And am using 2 handed sword. I have rerolled my skills once but not character points.

I mostly play solo.

Could you folks offer some advice on a) a good armor/glyph build (heavy/medium/light and glyphs), b) what weapon(s) should I use with glyph(s), (2 handed is at 50 and bow at almost 40 and can level up others like dual wield as I do quests) and c) where to best place my skills so I don't die and can do more damage? I do have a lot of skill points in crafting and want to keep them there, but should have enough to put points to put them into the right place (s). I like the dawn's wrath super, but if there is something better, I'm open to change.

I hope there is enough information for advice, but if not, please ask. Also, if you could dumb things down for this newb, I'd appreciate it. I'm still learning the ESO MMO speak and acronyms.

Thanks.

While I am no min-max player, here is a build that I am currently using and it's working for me. It's a Redguard, but that shouldn't make too much of an impact, since you'll get more health instead of stamina regen, and it almost never runs out of Stamina anyways.

    Level VR11

    Attributes: 25 Health, 34 Stamina

Armor split: Heavy chest, light helm, rest is medium armor

Armor/Weapon sets: Since I'm not VR14 yet, I've just been crafting armor. I am using 5 pieces of Vampire's Kiss set to get health back for every kill (even works off of rats and other critters if you're in a bind), and 3 pieces of Night's Silence (more stamina and stam regen.

    Skill bar layouts:

    Bar 1 (Two-Handed Sword):

    Brawler
    Wrecking Blow
    Reverse Slice
    Explosive Charge
Repentance (allows you to just keep going)
    Ult: Empowering Sweep

    Bar 2 (Two-Handed Sword):

    Rally
    Evasion
Evil Hunter (just don't abuse it)
    Extended Ritual
    Blazing Spear
    Ult: Nova

Basically, Bar 2 is a buff bar, but includes Blazing Spear which I open with before switching bars and charging in with Explosive Charge. Then just wail on things until they die. When they do die, hit Repentance and gain back any Stamina you may have used, then it's on to the next group.

Thanks. What Divine do you use and where are your champion points?

You seem to be running some sort of hybrid build, which explains your problems. You cant have a "balanced" distributing between all resources, it's like cutting of a leg really.

If you're going to use 2-Hander and bow, than you need a stamina build. You need to use dps skills that scales of weapon power and stamina. Wear at least 5 medium, max out stamina and weapon power. Stamina cost reduction on jewellery. Use Rally heal from 2-Hander, Repentance, Blazing Shield and maybe Purifying Ritual to keep your health up. Biting Jabs will kill anything in a matter of seconds, Binding Javelin knocks enemies down to the ground. Bow second weapon is nice, since it has ranged AoE, like Volley and Bombard that immobilizes all mobs, for easy leveling and grinding.

If you want to use all class skills or staffs, than you need a magicka build with spell power. The complete opposite. Low stamina, full magicka and enough health to not die. Light armor is the best choice, but 5 heavy + 2 light works to if you want to feel more "masculine" or one of those Skyrim Nord role play types lol. Build like this is so easy to play, you only need to spam Puncturing Sweep.

Well, since 2 hander is max leveled and Bow is mid-40, guess I should stick with these. Had wanted a hybrid build, but since I'm a newb, didn't know this was ineffective. Guess between the 2 suggestions above, I reroll and play with the 2 to find a combo that works.

Ellisra, do you by chance have a suggested skill bar like Aett listed for 2 handed and bow. Would prefer not to reroll over and over.

Also, as a question to all. On the world skills, and others with primarily passive, does anyone use fighters guild skills? I know persuade is needed, but what others?

    Thanks.

I'm assuming you mean Mundus Stone? If so, I use the Warrior stone for more Weapon damage.

Champion points are spread throughout the Steed (armor bonus for medium armor, extra spell resistance, and block cost), the Ritual (increase physical damage, increased crit damage, and armor penetration), and the Tower (reduced stamina costs).

I do mean Mundus Stone. And a newb question on Champion points. Don't you have to have the mundus stone active for the champion points to have effect? If not, then which one do you keep active? Thanks.
