Idea for a better crafting system

I would like to see them get rid of the temper system and replace it with a better system. Instead of using tempers to instantly upgrade an item, we should be able to do it for a cost of extra metal, cloth, or leather. The upgrade should also take time like researching. So if I want to make a basic white item it can be done instantly, but if I want to make a green item it will take 6 hours to make, blue item 12 hours, purple item 18 hours, and yellow item 24 hours. I think this would make the system a bit easier to understand plus it will make our gear worth much more to us and bring an actual value to the gold system because it would make the rare items harder to achieve and worth much more.

So why? I personally see tannings and tempers are going to be in Crown Store for extra revenue, thats the only reason I see they nerfed gold-tannings.

Just to add to the game, tempers are super expensive and I think adding in the wait time will make the crafting experience a bit more realistic.

I don't think I would want to wait a full day for my legendary bow to finish being constructed.

Yeah why not? Some sense of realism is already there or we wouldn't have to wait 30 days for research.

So let's say you want to craft a level 20 green heavy armor and a sword, it should take 2 days ? Many players would be level 30 when it's finished.

And it's only with green gear.

no you can make as many items as you want, just only one of the same item at a time. So 6 hours total, unless you want 2 swords then it would be 12 hours.

A full set of Legendary gear would take 9-11 days to craft.

So if you wanted it faster, you'd have to find a number of different crafters to do it (and wait a day). This would remove any incentive for crafting your own gear, I think.

I would still want to craft my own gear, I would just make sure that I prepare myself for when I need it, Like if I am currently V12 and know I am going to be V14 in a few days I would start crafting my gear early so I have it when I reach max level. Right now it's a system where you hit V14 and bang you get full yellow armor in 5 mins or less and had to put very little effort in to it except getting the materials.

I just think it would feel more rewarding to have to take time to craft our legendary gear and put more power and meaning behind it. Right now I feel that it's just to easy to obtain and it's practically the best gear in the game.

No. Research timing is bad enough. I have one toon outside my faction that I would love to have her slot, but she is my light armorer.

Life takes planning out in the distance, I play a game to escape that if only a little.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

This might be hijacking the original thread somewhat but I've always thought an interactive crafting system would be really interesting.

Right now we upgrade the quality of an item based on the tempers we use to craft said item. What if the tempers were removed from the game and replaced with an interactive mini game. For example when a blacksmith wanted to temper a sword a mini game would start.

Green Stage - artwork of a sword would appear on the screen with different points that would need to be hit in order as they are indicated within a time limit. Sort of like the old school Simon Says handheld game.

Blue Stage - same concept but harder mini game.

All successive stages would be the same concept just increasing in difficulty. Could really add a neat element to the game in my opinion. But what do I know, I'm not a game designer and I'm sure there are plenty of people that would not find this fun at all.

I find tempers to be less of a problem if you have a good crafter, refine a lot of raw material, and get help from your hireling. And the rarity keeps epic weapons -rare-, and -special- (somewhat anyhow), instead of everyone and their granny running around in gold gear...

A wait time for temper improvements... that I could get behind, though I wager a great many people would complain...

If anything, I'd like crafting to be more detailed. Not just refine iron ore into iron ingot, but take iron ore, and a good deal of wood to burn, drop in furnace to refine. Want steel? Use coal instead of wood. Copper and tin ore making bronze, iron ore and mystical metals makes magical alloys, etc.

And then... not just steel ingots to make your sword, but also, say, bronze for the guard and pommel, a leather strip for the hilt, etc.

But I guess they wanted it to be a bit more simple for all the people...
