Sounding very nooby... Questions about armour

So im only rank 7, my friend is starting the game and i said id make him some armour. As he will be level 3-4 whats the highest level armour i can make him? Do i just make him level1 or can i make him say level 6 that he could wear? Sorry if this is an easy question, dont want to make armour for him then have to deconstruct as he cant wear it.

He has to be whatever level the armor says. If you craft level 4 armor, he has to be level 4 to wear it. If you craft level 6, he has to be level 6. You can adjust the level of the armor by using the slider that controls how many ingots/cloth/leather you're going to use to make it.

All that said, you really don't need to worry much about crafting gear for you nor him, the game provides plenty of gear at that level that will be better than what you can make, and gear at that level is pretty unimportant anyways.

He cannot wear armor with a level requirement higher than his. If you want to craft him something then you can just craft some armor at his exact level. But he'll soon deconstruct them because people usually level very quick at such low levels and there are tons of loots and a lot of rewards from quests.

Craft training (or exploration) gear for your low level friend, this will help to level-up his skill lines (or character level) more quickly.

While I (basically) agree with this. Crafted armor has a hidden +2 bonus to it's relative level. So if you're crafting white level 8 armor, that's the equivalent of drop level 10 that you can use two levels earlier. Actually, that low it might only be +1. I can't remember off hand if it scales as you go up. I, also, can't remember if crafted white level 8 is equivalent to drop green level 8 or level 9, but yeah, you actually can make really good stuff off the bat, even without putting points in your crafting... but, it's also mostly pointless because you'll level out of it so fast.
