I been wondering this...Where are the children in this game? Skyrim at least had some kids running around, but I yet to see one child in any town. I would have loved to take out a zombie child in one of the towns that was affected.

Thank you, we needed a 1,000th thread on this subject. ESO will never have children in it. I'm not going to bother explaining why for the 1,000th time.

Actually, you know what would have been kind of awesome? If they made kids invincible like the guards, and if you attack one of them all of a sudden a swarm of invincible kids runs up to you, surrounds you, and starts pelting you with stones from slingshots. Each individual stone doesn't do much damage, but you get swarmed and just constantly pelted until you die a humiliating death at the hands of little kids...

Well, it would amuse me anyway.

It's for that very reason they haven't added children... Because you're not allowed to kill children - even zombie versions. Doing so would be controversial and make problems for developers in the ratings department.

I don't see how having children in game will break immersion. If anything it'll add immersion. Obviously, making it so that we can't kill them is a given. Although, I do like the being slayed buy kids with rocks if you attacked them is amusing. What if the kids that appeared looked like the kids from the "children of the corn" movies and gave you a death stare, lol. On the note of vampire kids. Anyone remember Babette from the dark brotherhood in Skyrim. She was a vampire child... Atleast in appearance, she was apparently the oldest member of the dark brotherhood and was supposedly at least a 100 years old. I also liked the quest in Skyrim when we answered the little boy murder contract for the dark brotherhood to kill his abusive foster parent in the orphanage. When you did all the kids in the orphanage rejoiced and made funny remarks about how the witch was dead and such. Cool quest

    He... he... hentai??? O.O ;)

I still think all the NPCs heard player characters were coming, and quickly hid all their kids in secret basements!

On a more serious note, yeah, having children just run around the cities and such would add a level of immersion. Yeah, having them murderable would be a problem, but that could be easily solved with making them auto-dodge any attack, and run off screaming for the guard whenever someone does take a swing at them, plus incurring a big bounty for daring to try and kill a kid...

Also, there are several "save the kid" quests that end up with the "kid" in question being a younger sibling at best. One of them goes with an "yeah, my mom still treats me like a child even though I am grown now..." dialouge, which works that once... but the others... especially those where its somewhat hard to imagine a grown person was incapable of finding their way home... eh...

Buuut, the powers that be decided against kids when the game was first released, trying for a lower rating I presume. And when the rating got later raised, they didn't bother to refit kids. Despite many people noticing this flaw in the world depicted by this game. Maybe someday they will, maybe it will never happen. Time will tell.

You answered your own question @Zusia211

ESO has a wide range of players, and many are not okay* watching other players running around slaughtering children, albeit pixel ones, even zombies.

If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

If there were children in ESO, I can tell you exactly what would happen. First, you would have the "immersion" and sociopath crowd that would be crying about not being able to kill them. Then you would have players who live in a perpetual fantasy world complaining about not being able to adopt children and have them follow them around or train them in battle. Then you would have players who would whine about not being able to create a child character to play. Then you have players who would strip down naked and dance/grind on children in towns.

Long story short, people in general are the reason why ESO does not, and will not, have children. It's far less of a headache for Zenimax to simply leave them out than putting up with all the crap that would be involved in having them in the game.

Children might be hurt in some way in the game, so instead of having npcs in the game who are children they don't have them.

Solves legal problems in some countries, and keeps people from complaining about childern that are gods and untouchable.

And solves space issues on unseeded things.

Confirmed in Skyrim, kill mods were the first and most succesful mod.

Players can do what they want in single players at home, but imo the value of Skyrim is much more than killing. And MMOs like ESO better appreciate this. This is not a shooter with narrow minded maps to kill every subject that has a heart beat.

Back in the 1st Era children discovered the meaning of life and gained immortality. The guards feared they would one day grow into fearsome overlords and enslave man and elf kind so they consumed the children until none were left, thus gaining immortality themselves to this day. 2 ages later the immortality wore off though as children began returning and the same cycle shall repeat but since we never played in the 5th age we were unaware.
