When you fast travel, there is maybe two seconds where you don't recieve at all what people write in whisper, guild chat or group chat.
Believe it or not, but this have several times caused misunderstandings. I don't want to write "brb, fasttraveling" to 30 people just because they might write something to me while I travel, and I will miss it.

Edit: To clear out any missunderstandings, you wont get it in chatbox at all. Its like it never got delivered to you. You will not receive the message after the loading screen.

wow they seem pretty needy... they cannot wait for 5 seconds to get your response until you are on loading screen? :D

(messages you get while on loading screen appear aswell once you are out of it... so it's not like you are missing out on anything)

I think you missunderstood. I never get messages at all.. While in loading screen, I dont recieve the messages. Its a social game, specially in end game and with guilds.

So yeah, what you said is plain wrong. I have even tested this. While you are in loading, there is a couple of seconds where you dont recieve at all the messages. Dont tell me this is 100% ok in a social MMO.

Senders need to be patient. If there is no answer in a couple of minutes (minutes!) simply repeat. No one should be demanding instant responses. That is unreasonable in a game like this.

Receivers need to keep an eye on the chat window. They need to reply in a timely manner, when not in combat or some other distraction. Be aware of the needy senders. If need more time to answer, just send a quick "just a sec" message. If you know you took a long time, remember to say that you were in combat, or whatever. If you see a sender repeat, and they are not spamming, it is definitely look long on the reply.

May not be a real problem, but it shouldn't exist at all, even everquest 1 was more than capable of getting a message to you when zoning. It is actually quite irritating that messages when zoning don't come through, it seems ridiculous to be waiting at a wayshrine because I am mid conversation with a guildie and feels pretty stupid I need to say 'hold on, say nothing, I am zoning' (then followed by an infinite load screen, force exit, reload game, try zoning again)

As far as I know, zoning does not normally lose messages. I have never detected that this has happened to me. However, if the loading screen runs long, some internal buffer might get filled.

What server are you on that this happens? When I fast travel and arrive, I do see any messages that were sent while traveling. Usually the only time you don't get a message, is when your considered "offline" by the server in which case the sender usually gets a statement that says "account not found" when sending the message. It's possible that the message isn't actually going through from the sender....

It have been happening for month. Yeah you still getting message, but not all of them. There are like 2 seconds maybe where you cannot receive message. Eu server btw.

And yeah like people here say, its not a huge problem, but I have seen worse post, and its a general discussion. it'nt it good to have a break for reading about lag issues and makro's? ;-)

You have friends? Lucky you. Are they "real" friends? You know, like ones you can go have a beer with or are they "friends" as in arbitrary people you have never met and never will that are named things like chesterthemolester74224@aol.com?

Odd, has happened since day 1 of the game for me. I sit next to my wife when we game so is easy for us to check - when one of us zones the other one lets them know what has been said in their 'absence' as anything sent during the zone never arrives. Worth noting that a message just a second prior to the zoning finishing does get through (presumably the point at which you see a character zone in prior to their own load screen finishing)

The chat features in this game are pretty terrible. You have zone chat, group chat, say, whisper and 5 different guilds to keep track of. They really should come up with a better system. Maybe sorting the guilds into separate tabs with notifications when someone chats. I can't count the many times I have replied to someone in the wrong guild.

You can put different chat channels into different tabs, or change the colors for them.

That's pretty bad that you never get the message. Even in old MMOs like EQ if I sent a tell to someone who was loading it would say: "You tell [Queued]Soandso: 'how bout them Knicks?'".
Edit: and they would get the message right after they were done loading.

So whats the solution here? Start sending mail to each other instead?

The solution is that text messages should be queued into a buffer if you are zoning. That's how most MMOs I have played in the past do it (even going back to EQ1). It's really not acceptable that messages just disappear into thin air if you happen to be zoning..especially if your game has lots of zones/instances.

Tell them to build a bridge and get over it. They too lazy to resend the message if you don't respond? *** my friends have to whisper me 2-3 times sometimes in any mmo. I don't always notice the whispers since I'm immersed in a game and not in a *** chat room. These days it's really a non issue because we usually have voicechat.

Yes I know that. What I am suggesting is some indicator to let you know about activity in those tabs. The only other option would be to click them periodically like you have OCD.
