Why is there no archer class

I get where your going with this but it seems you missed one the more fun aspects of this game and that is the customization you get from this game. If you want full on ranger dps then yes, blend the bow skill line with sorcerer or nightblade and mix in a mages guild structured entropy for a little self heal and resource regeneration. For a bard like play style I recommend the templar with its healing tree of skills with weapon based damage and a magus medium armor set so you can get the weapon crit and damage boost while the set will help offset the loss of light armor passives that would boost your support skills.
remember ESO is better kind of mmo in this respect since a sorc tank is still a legit idea and can be done.

I personally wish the game had as many classes to choose from as marrowind. Notice the scroll bar in the image, that's a lot of classes and freedom to choose from!

There is an entire line specifically for archery. To add a class would just be redundant.

There is no such thing as a ranged dps class in this game, neither stamina nor magicka based. Every class will do most dps when fighting in melee range.
    ...you sure ?

My 22k crystal frag would beg to differ.

You could also create your own class in marrowwind [sic] which is essentially what you do here. No more classes please.

Not really, there isn't enough variety in the four available classes for it to work properly. Making your own class is awesome, but like with Marrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim (kinda), you need a lot more skill tress and abilities under those trees to be able to build a decent character.

The simple and only needed answer is the bow is a weapon not class, you take the bow and choose a class the shape it to an archer.
I didn't choose tank life, tank life chose me.

Morrowind was a previous Elder Scrolls game. Came out before Skyrim.

    No idea what Marrowind is.

I don't know. Why is there no axe class? Why is there no staff class?

That's right, this game was designed so players would have a lot of options for their build, so they separated weapons from classes so any class can use any weapon. Wouldn't an archer class kind of defeat the entire purpose of separating weapons from classes? For ESO you have to look at each class as just a starting off point rather than a strictly defined role your character has to follow for eternity. While in the current state of the game some combinations work better than others (such as the severely lacking stamina sorc "battlemage"), you can build pretty much any archetype you can imagine just by using the various class/weapon combinations at your disposal.

Want an archer? Go stamina bow/dw Nightblade. You'd be shocked by how well that combination fills the archer/ranger archetype.
