Will lag in cyrodil carry over to IC?

Currently there is alot of lag in cyrodil and although they have said they are fixing the lag I am I'm the "I'll believe it when I see it" mindset.

There will probably be more people in all campaigns thus causing more lag.

So my question is if there is unplayable lag in cyrodil, will that carry over to IC or will it be a separate instance?

It already carries over into the PvE zones. A friend in the Rift last night reported performance deterioration at the same time Azura's Star was pretty much at 999+ ping.

Depends whether or not the wind will carry it.

    Hey @Bfish22090.

Obviously I do not work for ZOS but I am almost certain that the Imperial City will be several separate instances which they themselves are all separate from Cyrodiil's instances and on different servers. Given how IC is only accessible with DLC via the sewers it makes sense they will be on separate servers.

How could they do an official response when it hasn't even been tested? Since lag is an on going issue on PC I would expect the Imperial City to be effected by it.

Lag in Cyrodiil shouldn't affect Imperial City, as they are separately-loaded instances. Lag in general will affect IC just like it does other PvE areas, but that is usually less common than the crazy Cyrodiil lag.

Yeah it will be 3x stronger because everyone will be in IC instead of spread out in huge servers.

If you build it, they will zerg it and with the zerging will come lag to a degree

So will depend if there are zergs n some sections or not

I anticipate the lag to carry over, but I also anticipate the increased population that battles the lag will put pressure on ZOS to make significant strides in reducing it or to actually fix it.

Brian Wheeler has said they are implementing LOS check fixes for the IC patch, but he's been cautious about saying whether or not it actually fixed the problem (and we won't actually be able to truly test it until it hits PTS as they're just using <200 bots in their test).

This is the main reason I want to test this on the PTS. We need to get all factions into Azura once the NA PTS is updated with it and have an all out battle test. That's the only way we will know for sure if it's fixed.

They've said they won't increase the number of people allowed in each campaign (we'll see...) but that they would simply add more campaigns. I think having more people spread out will help it some, but we'll see.

If you look through Brian Wheeler's post history he said that Cyrodiil and IC are separate zones. Lag in one will not impact the other.

My best guess at this time no one knows until we get it on the pts even then that is not the same as live but as close as we are going to get, I guess we will have to wait and see. I think Cyrodiil lag will be separate from IC lag but that's is only a guess.

It shouldn't since they are separate zones. But there will be lag. New area, more people exploring and fighting that itself will cause lag. Let's not forget loading screens and npcs appearing very slowly.

There are improvements being made to the LOS checks and AE abilities in general that should help with the performance issues we pointed out in the ESO PVP 2015 update thread. Also just watched 120 bots fighting each other in Imperial City in 1 district (with 3 other districts loaded with 120 bots too) and any abilities shot off just fine.

The bots were casting a variety of abilities including AE's, also while fighting sweepers, base-pop and each other. They were clustered tightly so all of the combat resolutions had to be done in a single server cell which is the most strenuous. Now we aren't saying "huzzah! It's cured!" because this is just a single test and as we've stated, isn't a silver bullet as there are plenty of other scenarios we still need testing on.

I believe the Ping issue is separate from pvp lag.

Supposedly they are working on some fixes related to PVP lag. Knowing the history of fixes to this game tough....
