Undercutting in guild stores

Apparently some wannabe buisness man is trying to do it in NA PC server with sanded nightwood.

Buying out all stacks at reasonable price that was stable for weeks now and reposting them at two times or four times that .

This was chuckle worthy. It's a good way for a guild to fail OP. If you can't adapt to the changing market then you're guildies will shop elsewhere.

on PC I sell Monumental enchanting glyphs and Bangkorai (VR10 area) Treasure maps for 99 gold, I would never buy a single daedric heart for more than like 200 gold, thats just insane, before that happens I'll go farm it myself.. sooner or later the console market will regulate itself.. anyway I make way more money stealing....

I know prices will drop as *** becomes easier and more available for sale but people need to agree to sell at the same price because soon it will be everyone selling daedra hearts for 50gold and that's ridiculous to even consider. argentum is already down so much and so are rare motifs, I sold a primal for 60k and now I can buy them for 40k. Ancient elf is 40k as well. The only one that is still worth a lot is imperial because very few people find them. 2 weeks ago daedra hearts sold for about 8k now they sell for 2k. I bought a ton at the 2k price and I am just trying to get my money back at this point because I Know I am not going to make a profit. I wish I had started on PC because with PC there are so many add ons which tell you how much stuff sells for. On console its a free for all. prices are all over the place and its annoying. The few things that are still worth a good bit of money are imperial motifs, dwemer frames, temper alloy, and purple recipes, however even the recipes are dropping. Now they sell for 8k if your lucky if not they sell for 6k in a day or two. And now everyone knows about the pig farm so the price of dreugh wax is dropping like crazy and all clothing upgrade materials are just getting cheaper and cheaper.

OK so I have been in trading guilds since I figured out I can buy and sell tons of stuff and make money which I have been doing since level 10. But what is starting to *** me off is that people are constantly undercutting each other to make their item sell faster. I sell daedra hearts for 3k. I talked to my guild leader and he has posted in the MOTD that undercutting others will get you kicked. So everyone in my guild now sells stuff for about the same price. Daedra hearts for 3k, blue motifs for 3-4k grain solvent for 4-5k and so on. Whats pissing me off is that there are now people selling hearts for 2900... and its not only getting them less money but it hurts the guild because they don't get as much in taxes. Same with rare motifs, a few weeks ago they sold for 90-100k (Primal, daedric etc) and not I can buy them as low as 40k... That is ridiculous. Not only would you make more money if everyone sold for the same price but everything would be more smooth and efficient. In the one guild I am in we have a stall in daggerfall and there was about 3-4 of us selling grain solvent all for 4-5k, last night someone came in and bought all of them from everyone. So not only did we make more by staying around the same price for all of us but now the person buying didnt have to go to 5 different stalls to get a decent deal. I know people want to sell their *** and make money but please just look at the prices and sell for the same price! It will get you so much more money. #rantover

*** me your prices are outrageous, Jeep an eye on ESO my friends were about to have a recession because of this ***.

This economy needs to stabilise and to be honest gold can't be earned fast enough to maintain the prices people ask for things

I'm sure PC had a market crash before it stabilised with more reasonable pricing structure

Your guild houses are insane with their pricing most of the time, in any case.

An item that I can find (be it green, blue, gold or purple) you are selling for 100's of K's?

I am not so desperate (or have that much gold) to buy it from the guild. I'll be patient.

BTW - what kind of idiot would pay 3K for a Daedra Heart! Good grief! No one needs it that bad.

If I have stuff to sell, you better believe I will list it at a price that is lower than what others are selling it for. It's called a free market. If a guild I was in was going to kick me for doing this, I would join another one.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

What your guild is doing is called price fixing. In America (and I would imagine other countries as well) this is illegal. Also, if your trade guild doesn't adjust it will be left behind.

Pretty funny thread considering console players don't even have to deal with the Master Merchant red text effect......when your item is higher than current price and the variation from mean shows up RED, turning buyers away and driving down the price even further. I can list an item slightly below current price and be overpriced the same day. The PC market is very dependent on changes to the game. Can't wait to see what happens to nirncrux after that trait is fixed.

If I get duplicates of medium/higher value items or sets that I know i'll never use I tend to just put them on the guild store for pretty much the base price that the game suggests. I'd rather have the guild members having it cheaply than just sat around in the bank! Never think to search to see what the going rate is/if i'm undercutting people... oops.

I vaguely recall once being in a trade guild that operated the way the OP desires, way back in the early PC kiosk days. I was verbally harassed there for pricing my items the same as I priced them in my other trade guilds, which was a little lower than they liked.

I don't even remember that guild's name anymore, it's been dead for so long.

Sure it sucks when you can tell that someone's purposely undercutting you by listing the exact same thing for one gold less. Either wait it out, or sell it for less, or sell something else, somewhere else. But price fixing doesn't help anyone in the long run.
Happy All the Holidays To You and Yours!

I guess I am even worse for the free market. I GIVE away stuff like Daedric hearts and blue motif books. Heck, last week, I even gave away to a guild member an Imperial motif book. Try to match those prices. And yes, when people were selling vampire and werewolf bites for 20,000, I was giving them away FREE with the promise from the other player that if I bit them, they would play it forward and bite people for free too.

Mind you, I am also a shopaholic. 1-10 gold lower won't get my attention. If you want my gold, sell for 50%off.

You cant really control the market in this game.

I mean if your guild is super *** and doesn't let you undercut members, whats to say the guilds on the kiosks on each side of you are gonna undercut you big time and you wont sell anything.

Your console prices are starting to normalize a bit. 7k for a daedric heart is a joke.

  • posthumanguy
I know prices will drop as *** becomes easier and more available for sale but people need to agree to sell at the same price because soon it will be everyone selling daedra hearts for 50gold and that's ridiculous to even consider.

This is where your problem is... You are assigning a value to an item just because of what it is, not what things are going for or assigning the value based on demand. If Daedra Hearts are going for 50 gold.... guess how much they are worth?

If you dump a bunch of money into something and prices drop causing you to lose money that's called a bad investment. It is the sellers task to try to predict these fluctuations and price things accordingly. Sometimes you make money, sometimes you lose money. If it were simple then everyone would do it.

Maybe, just maybe some players put stuff up for sale cheaply not because they are out to make money, but simply because they just want to - gasp - help other players out a bit...
That's why i always sell all of the recipes I get (the ones that my main provisioner already knows, anyway) for just the default price: 27 gold for a green, 30 for a blue. I don't care in the slightest about making money off them, and I'm not trying to undercut anyone. It's just that I don't have any use for these recipes, so I figure I might as well help other players out who might want them by making them available on the cheap. Of course, my guild doesn't have a trader every week (sometimes we do, sometimes we don't), so a lot of the time those cheap recipes are only going to my guildies, but I'm fine with that :)

Edit: as a side note, I had no idea daedra hearts were a good seller. I've got a couple of stacks of them - even at the lower prices they go for on PC maybe I should look into selling them to make a bit of coin... I probably won't, though, because that sounds like a lot of work :p

Undercutting by 1g or similar is a bit lame and will probably get you a bad rep in most trade guilds. But undercutting by a large amount is totally valid. Sometimes people just want to shift stuff fast. This game isn't endowed with huge amounts of inventory space and guild listings are limited.
