Cadwells Silver

mattherbieb14_ESO
Hi all,

Are there any plans of removing the compulsory questing involved in Cadwells silver to progress in the game? I have already ran through the AD quest-line twice because of this (DC account), and am going to go insane if I am forced to go through it again and again and again and again.... I currently have 3 characters at around VR1 which I just can not be bothered levelling because I am so sick of questing.

How about, instead of being forced through Cadwells silver to make it onto the 3rd and final alliance area, you make it so you only have to hit VR6, to progress.

The game is really good and really fun as it is, but the mundane questing is really ruining it for me and I know a lot of people feel the same way.

Thanks.

This has been said over and over again for the past 2 years. They'll remove the VR system 'soon', and yeah you still have to bear with it for now.
People keep telling me they're gonna buy me an ale. They never do.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's culture. And the Elves.

    Help make this compilation complete!

yep that makes sense, grind V1-16 without any PvE content
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

As a long time Elder Scrolls fan I cannot see eye to eye on this issue. Questing has always been a central part of Elder Scrolls games, and it's one I enjoy immensely. Of course, I am not the type to have 4 or 5 toons going when I can put more focus into 1 or 2... So maybe I am just not suffering the repetitiveness as much.

Also, when I play the other factions zones I always nerd out a little and pretend I am a spy sent to uncove secrets as get close to their leaders to serve as an informant. Cheesy, but it adds a fun edge enough to keep me interested.

Yeah I fully understand all this, and I enjoyed going through all the quests the first time I levelled in the game, but doing the exact same quests over and over again is just a little repetitive.

Maybe making Cadwells silver account wide will help, so when you go through it once you don't need to do it again? I don't know, i'm just hoping the devs have something planned for it cause its driving me insane haha

The whole purpose of an MMO is to get you to play longer and pay more ... how is ZO giving you a V1-16 free boost going to help that ? ... they want you to buy XP boosters via the Crown store and the ESO+ XP booster

MMOs aren't free to run, content isn't free to generate, and shareholders still have to be fed. Don't complain because you're too broke/cheap to support the game and reap some benefits.

oh I'm not complaining, in fact very supportive of paying for service. Just pointing out that there is no incentive for ZO to offer free level boosters.

WoW did it, but to get people back into the game. ZO doesn't need to do it ... yet

I guess the cynical tone I picked up from your post came off as complaining. Either way, I get really annoyed when people complain about the Crown Store and ESO+. They've made it completely optional to support the game. If you don't want to, then don't. If you're not a subscriber I don't think you have any right to complain about anything, because you're not willing to fund the creation of content, bug fixes, server maintenance, etc. None of the people who work on those things work for free. That's like showing up to a soup kitchen and complaining that the soup is cold. Beggars can't be choosers.

You know what I'd really like to see them do?
    • Levels 1-50 (well, really level 1-whenever the heck you beat the main quest, but let's say 1-50) you do your own alliance's zones in exactly the same way as you do now.
    • You beat Molag Bal and Cadwell offers you the ability to experience another alliance, as he does now, except...
    • When you agree you get to select which alliance you experience second as your silver zones (VR1-5)
    • There is only one set of these silver zones, so you'll see players from other alliances as well as from your own (no PVP in these zones though)
    • Once you gain access to these silver zones, any time you teleport/wayshrine to one of your own alliance's zones you select whether it will be scaled to non-vet (so the exact same zones you're visiting now), or to silver (VR1-5). This allows you to go back and complete any quests or world bosses that you missed the first time through, except now everything will be VR1-5 depending on the zone (note: any quests etc you already completed as a non-vet count as completed in all versions of the zone), as well as group up with friends from other alliances who are questing in this zone (note: there's still no way for members of another alliance to go to the non-vet version of your alliance's zones, and vice-versa)
    • When you complete your silver zones, you move on to the 3rd alliance, which is now scaled as gold zones (VR6-10). At this point when you teleport/wayshrine to any zone in any of the 3 alliances you get to select whether it will be scaled to non-vet (for your home alliance only), silver (VR1-5), or gold (VR6-10).
    • Craglorn and other non-alliance PVE zones will now only have 1 instance of the zone, in which members of all alliances can quest alongside each other (or if this makes the population too high, have 2 or 3 versions you can choose from, much like choosing a campaign in Cyrodiil).

I feel like this would give people much more flexibility in how they want to do their progression after completing the level 1-50 part of the game (thus hopefully reducing the tedium OP complains about for doing the same alliance's quests over and over), allow much more opportunities for social gaming (I know there are tons of times I'd like to group with guildies for something but can't because one or more of us only has a character of the appropriate build/level in a different alliance), make it more balanced in terms of which alliance has access to the best high level places to farm different types of mobs (answer: all of them, because you can choose to travel to the VR10 version of each alliance's final zone etc), and still retain a separation of alliances while you're doing your home alliance's main questline.

There are probably (definitely) all kinds of reasons why this would never happen - some of which I may find quite reasonable, and some of which I may find incredibly stupid. I'd love it if this was the way it was done, though.

Removal of the VR system has nothing to do with it. They are not removing Cadwell's.

What they have said they want to do is change some of the access requirements around Cadwell's, so I am taking this to mean that they will be removing (or at least altering) the requirement to complete Cadwell's Silver before accessing Cadwell's Gold.
