Glad to see i'm not the only one who enjoys this game, it sort of looked grim on the forums. I actually enjoy the chat method they chose. Typing is kind of clunky.

The most likely causes of lag are (in no particular order):

Server strain
Physical distance from server
ISP bandwidth issues

It could be caused by an issue with your own gear, but it's much less likely. And when I'm in a delve in Cyrodiil with a half dozen guildies and all of a sudden we're all getting a ping of 999+ somehow I doubt it's a problem on my end.

Having said that, I don't seem to experience lag nearly as much as some people on the forums seem to imply they experience it. That may be partly because Cyrodiil is where people experience lag the most, and I don't actually spend that much time there, and it may be partly because other people have ISPs that are throttling bandwidth, and it may be partly because I might not be online at during the times of greatest server strain... Who knows.

Personally I like voice chat for doing group dungeons and similar activities requiring coordination between players, but for general conversations with random folks in the zone, or even for general conversations within a guild, I prefer text chat. But that may be because I'm a dirty PC peasant glorious PC master race.

Comcast put ESO in the slow lane with Netflix... Other ISPs do the same, its unlikely its gear but bandwidth capping.

I thought the net neutrality ruling under Obamas FCC rendered data caps illegal. Im pretty sure data caps have quietly been removed to protect isps from federal prosecution.

Has that actually come into effect yet? I thought there was still an appeal pending...

I am really enjoying this game. I just got my first character vet rank a while ago and I still think its awesome. PvP dungeons, pve, three major storylines, miles of lands to explore, yeah. Still love this game.
