Resolution Setting Changes Every Time

Hello,

I am having a weird problem which I could not find referenced anywhere in the forums. I have a 1920x1080 monitor but have the game set to full screen 2715x1527 resolution using NVIDIA's DSR mode to get a better image quality. The game plays fine in this resolution, but every time I relaunch the game it sets the resolution back to 1920x1080 and I have to set it again. After exiting the game I have checked the UserSettings.txt file and the resolution is showing 2715x1527 there.

I had taken a break from the game since December so I am not sure if this started with 1.6 or an earlier version but this definitely worked back in December.

Odd, it was working fine with DSR before 1.6, since updating mine is doing the exact same thing.

Just a thought... What is your primary resource to play the game vs. your 'monitor'?

I ask due to prior to 1.6, I was able to play the game via my tower (32bit) through my stereo receiver to my TV. However, since 1.6, I continue to have crashes and I decided to run my laptop (64bit) through my stereo receiver to my TV. The laptop sucks at gaming (gfx card is not the greatest: Geforce 610M) and the game became unplayable, but the RAM (8gb) was there, so no crashes. However, running through my tower, everything looked nice (D3D11), 3.5gb, gtx 760. But, running through my tower created crash after crash, after crash, etc...... When using my laptop, I had to change my laptop resolution settings (1366x768), to my TV's resolution (1920x1080).

1.5 was bad for me, reports sent, replied, 'till they (eso support just gave up on me and decided to not reply to any of my email replies), and now 1.6 is just unplayable for me. I'm sill waiting for a reply from them since 1.6 launch. I kindly described my problem, noted I have had other tickets prior for same reason, begged them to contact me via game so we may talk in real time to figure something out. Otherwise... email to email... it may be a month or never 'till I get to play the game properly.

Well it is good to know it is not only me I guess. At least I can keep changing the setting back but it is annoying. At least it is not as game breaking as the current issue in NA Greenshade where summoned pets refuse to follow you.

Same issue here running 4K with Nvidia DSR. I never had this issue prior to the latest patch. Now everytime I close the game, and re-open it, back to 1920x1080

Just a minor annoyance, but dat 4k with DSR is soooo sharp!

I don't use NVIDIA DSR but I have the same problem.

Was playing the game at 2560x1440 on a 1920x1080 monitor since game's release without any problem and now the resolution is set back to 1920x1080 at every game launch.

Same issue here. The game doesn't only reset the resolution but also other graphic settings like shadows.

It's not a showstopper but it's annoying. Not even editing the usersettings.ini and make it read-only resolves the issue.

Same problem here. The game always switch my resolution back to the desktop one. That was working very fine befor 1.6. Trying to update the drivers to see if it's gonna change something.

If someone has an answer...

That is really strange as running a monitor off native resolution usually results in a poorer image. Not like the days of CRTs.

Anyway, do you have the game set to be Application Controlled or Control Panel controlled? In the first, the game will make it's settings, in the latter the third party program will make the settings.

Same problem. I run the game at 1080p, but the game always starts up at 1360x768 (Desktop's Resolution). Didn't do this before 1.6. Been doing so since.

Reported the bug within the game, but was not fixed in the latest patch. No idea if they're even aware of the bug or if there will be a fix incoming soon or not.

Same thing over here, running the game on Nvidia 4k dsr and 1080p monitor resolution, it always switches back to 1920x1080 everytime I open up the game.

I also get some stutterring on 1920x1080... none on 4k. That's really weird. Could it be my 120hz screen? I doubt it.

Happens on Mac Os too if you are interested, the game starts with the desktop resolution.

I would appreciate if anyone from ZOS could make a comment in this thread just to let us know that they are aware of the issue and it's on their To-Do list. For an official support forum, there are WAY too less official ZOS replies. Gives the community the feeling that they are left alone with their issues.

Even if it's not a showstopper and there are way more important things to fix out there... it's still super annoying!

I'm having the same issue. If I totally delete the Usersettings file, I can boot into the game fine, everything is at the correct resolution. I'll set everything the way I want it, close the game, reopen, and the resolution is back to 640x480. I see that the file updates, and sure enough when I go in there, it shows the change.

For me today's 2.0.2 patch fixed this for me! Hopefully it is not working for others as well. While ZOS never commented in this thread it is good to know that they fixed it.

no they did not fix the resolution!!! i have changed to EVERY resolution in game and nothing changes... i have changed my hd wide screen as big as it will allow, and the game still stays at the BASE resolution!!!

The issue from earlier this year was fixed. Your issue sounds different as you cannot change resolution at all. I recommend opening a ticket with CS.
