Mage Guild Level Requirements for Quests

Hi All.

I hear that to unlock mage guild quests you have to be a certain level on the mage guild skill tree. I was wondering if anyone knows the exact levels required for each quest? I am VR 6 and Mage Guild Level 4 but am still yet to be given the last two quests.

Thanks

Also I find this weird because I have seen people with the Master Wizard title at VR1

I am not 100% certain, but by the time I was around level 40 I believe I was Mage guild rank 6 and was offered the last quest. I think I MAY have been rank 5 when I had gotten the quest, but again am not totally sure.

Not the answer you were probably hoping for, but at least it narrows it down another Mage guild rank for you

The quest is given when you enter a mages guild hall in any of your faction's main cities.

The "Mad God's Bargain" Quest (last two quests) is available after rank 5 in the Mages Guild. With the number of lorebooks in the starting zones and Cyrodiil, one can achieve well over Mages Guild rank 7 and Master Wizard with a little work.

Especially since locating all the books in a zone gives an additional completion exp to the skill line.

I honestly did not know your guild rank controlled access to those quests. I'm usually pretty good about clearing out zones on the way through, so it was never an issue for me.

I'm waiting till I'm level 50 to do the guild quests since in previous ES games the quest rewards were tied to level.

I wouldn't recommend that. Everything scales as you go up. The level cap is about 14m xp beyond 50, and will soon be 16m cp. And, even at VR1 the rewards are going to be underwhelming. "Yay a green necklace... whoo. :|"

It's one rank per quest. So Quest 1 requires Rank 1, and so on up to Quest 5 at Rank 5.

If this is the case then why have I only had 3 quests and I am rank 4 (about 2 lore books from 5)

There's a bug in which the quest-giver doesn't spawn properly.

Agreed. I hear where you're coming from @starkerealm but the quest structure in ESO is a more traditional MMO based. Quests have a set recommended level and the quest rewards are set to that level. You will get extremely under leveled gear if you take that approach. With that said, I don't recall any crazy awesome quest rewards for the Mages Guild Line as you go. There is a good reward at the end
that lets you elect to get 3 skill points if you choose a particular cause of action but I don't recall any great loot (you're not earning the Wabbajack like in the ES RPG games)

You get a piece of jewelry that's scaled to your current level. The first quest pays out with a green, and all the subsequent ones pay out with a blue piece. The final one pays out with a single purple weapon (your choice in fighter's guild, and a staff in the mages guild.) The purple is nice. But, given the availability of purples goes up as you hit vet ranks, it's not really that impressive. Though the enchantment on the Fighter's Guild one is basically unique.

I don't think it has anything to do with it. the same is true with the fighters guild. I just finished the last mage's last night and I am mage level 5, 41 adv. (I need to go lore book hunting).

Report and hope. Sometimes he reappears of his own accord, but ZOS haven't commented on this issue at all.
