My guild is based of an Ingame thing, kind of how like there is a dominion guild called scouts of the dominion, mine is called Knights of the Flame. Do you feel this is ok? It will mostly be a PVP guild, need to get a half decent headset first, one I bought was faulty :D . So, what do you say?

start small with a group of 4-5 players that you regularly play with then as you guys meet other ppl through dailys ot pvp if they fit in and you have a laugh with them invite them. If you try and expand to fast you will end up with players that dont get on or feel excluded and they will leave then it becomes a constant chore to replace people.

Its not an over night process take your time with it try to engage with as many different players as you can in voice chat. if you get on then invite them. also have clearly stated goals as you dont want someone who turns up expecting to to do trials every night to your PVP guild or for your pvp groups to be up 24/7.

Be prepared to have a large portion of your game time involved with running the guild/helping your players.
Only make trusted people officers and make sure those officers want to participate. You'll burn yourself out trying to do it all.
Don't invite randomly, you want quality over quantity
Be careful with access to your guild bank, there's players out there that will join with the express purpose of stealing from it.

Good luck keep your roster active. I think without a regular guild trader it's much harder to attract people that won't just become inactive within days or weeks. So many of the trader guilds are also doing PvP and PvE that it's hard not to choose one of them so you get the benefit of everything.

You may have somewhat better luck with a PvP focused guild because I think PvP'ers might be a little more dedicated and less fickle/flaky than PvE'ers (probably a huge over-generalization but that's my impression). The best advice is probably what @lathbury said. Start with a small dedicated group and add quality people as you find them doing the activity your guild is focused on. Also, beware of the guild thieves. Either lock the bank down with very selective access to officers you trust only or open it up but don't keep anything terribly valuable in there.

Voice chat. Easier to not get screwed over when you've actually spoken with the person on the other end.

    Not impossible, just easier.

And bring in people with like interests - if you don't plan on doing certain things, don't advertise that you do. If it changes later, it's all good. People with the same ideas are more likely to stay and contribute than randoms you pull out of zone chat.

You might consider holding off until the DLC hits before recruiting hard.

Never keep anything, even briefly in the Guild Bank you are not willing to part with forever.
