There was none afaik, just a graphical effect. Though it's already easy to spot the templar in groups thanks to the Blazing Shield. Was there some point to this ball other than to make it easier for your pvp opponents to spot, target and annihilate your healers?
Yeah that makes sense. But that fire animations still there in PvE. For example fire breathing daedroth boss in veteran Banished Cells(forgot its name), it isn't hard to see red indicators when you actually "look".felinith66 wrote: »

They were removed because it was: "I'm the healer, kill me first"-kind of information for the opponents in PvP.Back in the last year beta times and first weeks of release, we had a small gloving ball of light when healing with restoration staffs. It could go bigger and bigger for the amount of time you spent in healing.
I actually meant exactly that. It wasn't big issue for me to see indicators on ground. The colours weren't in same tone. Indicators were slightly darker than the fire effect. But I agree it could be difficult to see that though nannies and grandpas need some glasses and train situational awareness for sure. You could also see the archer's animation drawing his bow, so it isn't hard to guess if it's a one shot heavy attack or regular light attacks. The only thing I could guess it was hard to say if it's friendly spell or hostile.felinith66 wrote: »There was none afaik, just a graphical effect. It had more to do with your own fire spells than the enemies.' Fire from enemies would force you to move anyway so you hardly have to worry about the red stuff on the ground since you're already moving out of the way. But if you use elemental blockade, especially in a dungeon, it would cover the whole hallway and most of the time, make it impossible to see the red indicator from an enemy archer firing off a one-shot ability. And this was back before they nerfed vet content, where being caught on the red means being dead automatically. It also made it tricky to figure out if the fire spell is from your group mate or the enemy's because they had the same animation.
Personally, I had no issue w/ it. It was awesome covering everything in fire. Made the skills seem very powerful.
Isn't it still same? You can spot healers quite easily atm. Though it was much more easier to spot with it both for your enemies and friendlies. I guess if that made friendly only effect, like only people in your faction can see that effect, then it would be np.They were removed because it was: "I'm the healer, kill me first"-kind of information for the opponents in PvP.Back in the last year beta times and first weeks of release, we had a small gloving ball of light when healing with restoration staffs. Any PvPer that has ever done successful 3-vs-3 and larger fights knows how important it is not to be focused by all enemy players at once. The glowing effect is basically as eye-catching as Focused Aim or Piercing Mark. Whoever had any of these 2 on him, knows it means.Isn't it still same? You can spot healers quite easily atm. Well yeah good point, however making it ally only would solve this issue.Any PvPer that has ever done successful 3-vs-3 and larger fights knows how important it is not to be focused by all enemy players at once. Omfg, i forgot about this, i used to play a healer the first 3 months since early access and played in first person and i remember
i could not see anything on the right hand side of me, because that light was blinding me!
the best part was that nobody else but the player saw the light, glad it is gone.
I LoL when i think back to playing in first person, i tried it the other day and it made me roadsick in 10 seconds
