try not to play the "role" that class may think it should be.
nightblade, try playing as a tank.
DK try playing as a healer.
I was actually thinking about that one. I would love to play a dual wielding sorcerer that deals a lot of physical damage. I do love the dark magic and the soul magic components of this game and am glad how they handle staffs as opposed to the limited use that one gets in other ES games.Amsel_McKay wrote: »try not to play the "role" that class may think it should be.

This is good advice, because your comments seem to say that you are trying to fit a role to a class. "Sorcerer is great and all - but they're so fragile in general and their spell selection is rather limited" You can make a heavy Sorcerer build that will have the same HP and AC as a DK with the same build. I wish ESO just got rid of classes.

Customization of a build changes a lot with that second bar.
I've played through to level 10 on a variety of different builds and have come to the conclusion that I need to play more of a hybrid to truly satisfy myself.
A Hybrid build is fine with me, if someone can suggest something. I'm happy to try and I want to make this runthrough count.
Thanks much!
I agree, but, as I was brand new and wanted to experience what each type was capable of, that's why I did it that way. I wanted to get a taste before diving in to the meal as a whole.
I'm not a very good player and kept finding weaknesses in my builds that needed to be fixed.
I hate dieing and that's all I seemed to do, regardless of my build.
Now that I'm more familiar with all the mechanics, and crafting and how the game works, I want to try for real this time.
I would love to create a classic D&D Cleric type (that was always one of my favorites in D&D), but can't figure out the right balances.

I wouldn't mind leveling multiple weapons but the thing is you can only have strong magic attack or strong melee attack at a time. My character is almost level 30 now, leveling up multiple characters is something you don't want to do.

Yes please! A tank/spellcaster really appeals to me.

Heavy armor, sword and shield, summon armor, lots of lightning, healing staff on the other bar for when the boss required distance. It was fun for sure but I heard it's not the best tank class so up to you. Im going to try a tank/healer templar now on xbone and see how that works - im more about fun vs. maxing my character. I did too much of that in the WoW days. DMG and healing calcs and all that jazz - all fun and casual now

Sorcerer is great and all - but they're so fragile in general and their spell selection is rather limited with a great deal of concentration on lightning (never my favorite).

Playing to level 10 doesn't indicate ANYTHING about how the class plays later on. Sorcs, fragile? At VR1, I have been wearing only Light armor since level 24 and rarely EVER die and I have almost all my attribute points into Magicka. But, if you expect to play a melee Sorc wearing Light armor, yes, you will be extremely fragile and die often.
As far as Lightning... I have ONE Lightning spell in my loadout- Liquid Lightning. Also, depends on if you PvP focus or PvE. I am strictly PvE... I run: 1: Force Pulse, Crystal Frag, Structured Entropy, Magelight, Unstable Clannfear and 2: Restraining Prison, Liquid Lightning, Elemental Ring, Magelight, Unstable Clannfear. With dual Destruction staff. My Ultimate- until I get Shooting Star from Mage Guild, I'm running Greater Atronach. However, I have NEVER had to use an Ultimate up to this point, at VR1. I utilize my Clannfear as a tank and I stand back and kill from range. Well, mobs I usually run up to them, throw on Restraining Prison, drop Liquid Lightning, and then circle around them while spamming Elemental Ring.
So no... I have not found Sorcs to be fragile in any way. Of course, up to level 24 I ran with three pieces of Heavy until I was able to get some heavier hitting abilities and passives. I also spent a couple days early on running around high level areas collecting the easiest Skyshards so that I had plenty of skill points early as well. Plus, I also utilize Food buffs for Health and Magicka. Like I said, I rarely ever die unless I do something stupid.
