Funnel Health or Swallow Soul for NB sap tank...

Hi all, I'm a magicka NB tank who currently runs funnel health. Question is, I'm about to respec to change some of my other morphs and was looking into possibly switching to swallow soul for the extra healing received from my sap essence . Problem is, I read somewhere that funnel health possibly gives more ultimate points per cast than swallow soul? Currently my ultimate procs pretty freaking frequent and I don't want to lose that, not to mention helping the healer out with funnel 's ability to heal melee dps attacking near me. Anyone know anything about this?

Ultimate generation is not influenced by the morph. It used to be different before update 1.6.
You have to decide if you want to heal others or get bigger heals. It depends on your healer and many other things (CP, other group members) which morph will be better for your group, so it's hard to advise anything.

As a tank, your main duty is to make sure you don't die. Since swallow soul increases healing received by 8%, you will make the life of your healers much easier than with the puny amount of healing that your funnel is adding to others.

Your ultimate is probably mainly refilled by you blocking enemy attacks, and not because of the healing provided. Since the regeneration buff does not stack, you should be as well off with weaving in a light attack every 8 seconds. This should be a large enough window to get it in while still blocking the important attacks, also in view of the future changes to block.

A tank is not a healer, a tank has gotta make sure that he himself stays alive. Therefore Swallow Soul is the better option for a tank. 8% more healing received is quite a lot and benefits the tank plus the healer a lot more than your little heals for two others from Funnel Health. On my tank I actually slot Swallow Soul on both of my bars so I always have the buff, it's really useful and from my experience really better for a tank.

Funnel Health and Swallow Soul are both in the sake skill line, and basically are the same skill. Which means both will grant the same amount of ultimate points. If you want to keep your ultimate keep proccing, light attack once every 8s and you don't have to worry about not getting ulti enough. (Usually blocking should keep the ulti gain up by itself, but just light attacks when not sure getting ulti)

Right on. I think I'll give swallow soul a shot, I'll still have refreshing path to drop down for allies. Although I with refreshing path would have a green hue to it instead of red so allies would know it's good to stand in lol.

Does shield bash count as a light attack? I do that quite often to interrupt casters and stun them.

Light or heavy attack, dodging and blocking. I don't think bash gives you ulti.

I am tanking 4person groups with Funnel Health. It allows healer to do damage most of the time, and the whole group is more efficient. With high spell power and magicka, FH healing is so strong it keeps 90% of time group health topped up.

For trials Swallow Soul is better. Trials are currently only content where tank must concentrate to their own survival.

That's what I've been doing and why I'm hesitant on switching.

Helediron, do you mind me asking how you split your attributes as a magicka NB tank? I'm currently 26-20 magicka to health.

My nb is a dps/tank, can do both with switch of gear. So i use funnel health. In vdsa as dps i often out heal our healer, though he generally does more dps than me. So i think funnel is the better morph.

12 health, 50 magicka. The more i get CP, the more i move towards magicka (now 300 CP). More details here in Tamriel Foundry.
