$25 for IC DLC: Fair or Overpriced?

    Fair.

Gaming is for me the cheapest entertainment $/hours. This game is incredibly well done for the measly 60$ I've already paid.

Giving them another 20$ for, let's say 20 hours of content (should be higher than that anyway with replay value) is, again, cheaper than whatever I can buy as art entertainment, be it a good book or a movie in theater.

Now, seeing new movies every week may feel new and exciting every time, but the $$ is going out of your wallet too. If you play 2 hours a night for a week in this new DLC, you made your money back and should feel satisfied.

I am seeing a large amount of content, new styles, new dungeons, new bosses, and probably three times the space that actually can fit on that island. Definitely worth the money and definitely a new hotbed of activity. I seriously expect that anyone who does not buy access (ESO Plus or Crowns) and spends any time in Cyrodiil or end-game content will probably end up buying it.

$25 compared to the sub cost makes this an extremely cheap dlc. Cannot see how anyone could argue otherwise except those who kept their subs all these months with no content release.

It is 5,500 Crowns = $39.99. That's the best deal you'll find on the Crown Store atm.
    IC is 2,500 Crowns = ~$18.00.

It is most definitely not $20 or $25. I would say it is reasonable for newer players. For us veteran players that have been here since beta and early access/launch, we should be getting a discounted price (at the very least) on Imperial City and Orsinium.

I get what you're saying, but you are wrong. The DLC is $24.99.

For some one who just wants to buy the stand alone DLC, meaning, they don't care about crowns, they don't care about crown store purchases such as Mounts and etc (such as myself). The bare minimum some one has to pay is $24.99 for the 3000 crowns bundle. Now sure you can get a better deal on CROWNS by paying $39.99 for 5,500. But that doesn't translate to "IC is 2,500 Crowns = ~$18.00."

With that argument one could say (if there was such a bundle) 10,000 Crowns for only $69.99 is the best deal because that makes IC = $15 in relative terms.

You can quibble that the price could or should be five or six dollars cheaper, or even a bit more expensive. But it's certainly not a shocker.

$ 49.99 would have been out of line.

I agree completely with that. $50 for Imp City would have been a very bad deal considering it's opening a part of an existing zone. If they had a whole new zone like Wrothgar also, as well as a bunch of new group dungeons, trials and loot then I would totally pay $50 for it. As it is now, the price is justified imo for what we get. It's only $5-$7 more than a monthly Sub would be, anyone who's been paying the monthly sub and cancelled it should be grateful at this price. You should already have crowns that you can use to buy this also.

From what I heard it's overpriced because people trying to do pve objectives will be griefed to hell and gone. Little reason for PvErs to even show up. Not to mention it seems overall VERY small. Unless I hear there is more not worth even buying it.

The game needs real content/expansions not half finished content.

@Attorneyatlawl and I have both went into massive detail regarding this already. This is the best future-proof plan you can go with for DLC, and it is also the cheapest, most reasonable solution for anyone wanting to get Crowns for DLC at this present point in the game.

This is barely a fair price. I think $20 would be right on the mark to be honest.

Excellent! Because it costs ~$18.18 when buying the right crown pack :).

Wow it's only $18.18!? And you're telling me all I need to do is spend $39.99 for 5,500 Crowns!? Wow think of the savings!

or better yet one could say.....

I work for a Company that creates and supports software for millions of customers and I can say that is way beyond fair to charge 25 dollars.

There is so much time and resources that goes into creating/testing and distributing then supporting any software. I really cannot believe how cheap game software is.

It is true that you cannot buy 2500 crowns, the closest is 3000 which leaves you with 500 you don't need right now.

However, keep in mind that another expansion is planned before the end of the year, and it's the PvE-centric Wrothgar that you most likely will be interested in, being a PvE player, so those 500 crowns won't be completely wasted.

That makes it slightly more interesting. Are there any confirmed plans/details for Wrothgar this year or is it just a case of them hoping it will be out?

it would seem like and extrmely bad business move to make people pay for something they have no control over getting into. Although still plausible. i just dont see that happening.

And why is that?! There's 3 sides at war, so your side not always having access to a resource makes sense. Also we know too little about how it all works to make blanket statements like some people do in the thread.

Maybe the 100% PvE area's can be accessed from the PvE mainland without going through the sewer access in Cyrodiil. Then people that want to absolutely avoid PvP can still access a large part of the DLC, they just have to let other people battle to open the access (maybe you can contribute to the effort by giving us PVP'ers free potions :P )

Also I don't see why they can't make DLC's that are not for the entire playerbase.. ie. Orsinium is probably going to be 100% PvE, which is of no use to PvP'ers.. doubt the PvP'ers will complain much about it.. if you don't like the DLC, nobody says you HAVE to get it. (granted this is not entirely true, since they also introduce new gear in the DLC, which is probably BoP, so only way to get it is to play the content)

Anyway.. think it's a little early to decide if the DLC is something you will like / hate at this point in time.

It's definitely a fair price. The only thing that's puzzling are the prices of everything else in the Crown Store. Mounts for 1,200-3,000 crowns when dlc is 2,500 (which is fair for the DLC)... does not make sense. Outfits for 1,000 crowns? The cost of some of those potions? I mean, I'm guilty as the next person of throwing money at the Crown Store (not for potions/motifs... I have all those from in-game.. well the in-game versions of them).. but more mounts than I'll ever use, pets, etc... but the pricing scale is WAY off.

Well, I don't like PVP in general, and I hate PVPVE. Especially when you can get looted of things by gankers or people in big zergs. I do understand that a lot of people want this type of game play, but it's not for me. So 2,500 crowns for 2 dungeons isn't worth it to me. I am actually probably not even gonna buy this DLC. I will save my money for more PVE content. I like the expansion of the VR levels and better gear, but I really thought there was going to be more PVE content. I don't want to be fighting a monster and as soon as i kill it, someone come up and gank me and loot me. I quit playing Aion after level 25 because of this type of gameplay.

I think it depends on who you are.

Are 25 bucks a lot of money? Well they are if you still study or have a minimum wage job and come from a country that doesn't pay in hard dollars or euro.

Anyone else should easily be able to afford 25 bucks, its about what you have to pay to watch a movie in the cinema or entering a dance club in town. Heck, some cocktails already cost 15 bucks or more :D

Besides that, everyone who was subbed since day one until the transition happened, should have about 3500 crowns now so the DLC will be free.

What it comes to in the end is, if the DLC is worth it for yourself and that's a decision which everyone has to make for him / herself and therefore decide if its overpriced or not.
To me spending my crowns on something like dungeons or "gear updates" is not really appealing, but I sure would use my crowns for a decent housing DLC as this is what I am interested in.

Its like with alcohol or cigarettes, some people spend hundreds of dollars on it every month, others however would even think 1 buck is too much for that stuff. ;)

In general however we can say that the days when additional content was handed out for free are sadly over, EA and Valve let their customers pay for everything extra these days and if ZOS goes the same road then I am sure they have their reasons for this as well.

As far I know, Blizzard is the only company that still hands out things for free, even their expansion packs, which is quite a big thing if you consider that many people always blame Blizzard for being greedy ;)

It will be interesting to see how many people actually pay for the DLC and if future DLC´s will cost the same, less or even more money.

    Well, consider this.

The biggest scum of a publisher in the market (Activision) charges roughly that for their DLCs, and the next Destiny DLC will be $39.99.

Conversely, if you look at one of the more loved developers right now, Rockstar Games, they have currently released every single DLC free of charge.

Who's doing it right? Well RG broke sales records for entertainment products, and were making something like $30mil a month from in game optional purchases, whereas Destiny & CoD have not come anywhere near that.

All DLC should be free, especially with a micro-transaction model and RG are showing other Developers the way forward, greedy f*cks.
