Vampirism/Werewolf Questions

So I am thinking about making 1-2 of my 3 mage-type characters into a vampire and/or werewolf.

Here are my characters:
- Khajiit Templar healer/solar mage
- Dunmer DK fire mage
- Khajiit NB stealth mage

Now I know that the werewolf stamina regen passive makes it worth it to take the bite because there currently are no negative side effects when not transformed. However, that aside, is it viable/fun to play on a magicka based character or does the skill line suck for magicka characters (or suck in general)?

For the vampire, I know there is a large benefit to magicka based players for being vampire with the offset being increased fire damage. Is there a way to counteract the fire damage efficiently without being Dunmer?

So which character(s) would you make into a vampire or werewolf and why?

Wow, three mages? You must like magicka. ;) I like it too on my DK Tank and Templar Healer, but my NB Archer and Templar DPS are all about the stamina.

If you were going to make just one a vampire, I'd definitely go for the Dunmer DK Mage. The racial passives not only help mitigate some of the vampire fire weakness, but they also give you a boost to your fire damage. Perfect race and class for a vampire.

I honestly don't know too much about the skill lines for WW or Vampire, so I can't comment on how useful or fun it would be to go WW on any magicka character. If your Khajiit NB was an archer or stamina assassin, then WW would be a better fit. Though I will say I'm considering making my magicka DK Tank into a WW just for some extra stamina.

With enough fire resist enchants, you can counter the fire damage regardless of race. It's just slightly easier on a Dark Elf. However, I did hear something about the fire damage to vamps being reduced in an upcoming update, so it should be a little less of a problem in the future. It doesn't sound like you want all of your characters to be vamps, so I'd recommend turning just one and seeing how you like it. Turn a second one if you find yourself enjoying it. If you want to really benefit from what WW has to offer, you might consider making a new character or converting an existing one into a stamina build. I plan on making my Khajiit stamina Templar DPS and my Bosmer NB Archer into WWs and my Dunmer Sorc and possibly my Argonian Templar Healer into Vampires. Remember that if you don't like either one, you can always cure yourself. It can't hurt to try it out.

    Hope that helps

I love the magicka builds mostly because I like class abilities more than weapon abilities. With the limited stamina morphs available in all the classes, I'm just not super interested in stamina builds.

Honestly, I'm not sure where I want to go with my NB build. I might change it into a stamina build later on, but I'm not nuts about the play style of the stamina build verses the magicka build. The magicka build seems to be more stealth focused with the ability to almost 'spam' the Cloak ability while stamina builds feel more combat focused, and I prefer the stealthier version.

I was thinking I would make the NB the vampire because it would work well with all the stealthy abilities and passives of the NB class. Though I totally understand your logic with the Dunmer DK. There is a certain irony to being a DK vampire. LOL

Its good to know that they are reducing the fire damage for vampires so that not 98% of vampires have to be Dunmer in order to save on enchants. Though I imagine it might make PVP a little trickier, especially in combination with the 50% damage reduction in place.

And yes, I only want to have one vampire (I am more drawn to the werewolf).
