What Is the Deal With The Collectibles?!?! [GM Response REQUIRED!!!]

I have seven collectibles that are just taking up space in my inventory because there's no explanation on what the heck they are used for! I have: Banekin Horn. Chattering Skull, Daedric Dewclaw, Rock Bass, Smoldering Ember Heart, Werewolf's Cameo & Wraith Shackle; I cannot move them to my Bank and I'm not sure if I can sell them but I can destroy them. I was told that on the PC they had the option to "Use" them but we don't have that option here, so if I sell them or destroy them...will I lose them towards my achievements?

I thought the same thing and said eff it and took a chance and sold it and it was still marked off in my achievements window. So the second you get one, you can dispose of it and you still keep the credit for finding it.

I have the same problem but when I looked in achievements on trophys or collectibles can't remember exactly which, they are ticked off so I just sold or destroyed them

From my understanding, consoles have no "Use" feature and the items automatically count towards achievements.

I'm not going to risk destroying or selling them until a GM can confirm this. I got ripped off on the achievement on Skyrim where you had to collect 15/17 of the Daedric Artifacts; I collected them and never got the achievement, next character I tried it with the other options for the ones you had to choose between and on the next character I did the glitches to keep all 17 but nothing gave me the achievement. To this day, that's the only achievement I'm missing for Skyrim on the Xbox 360.

You don't have to use them for them to count towards your achievement, you just have to obtain them. If you do wish to use them to see what they do, you can assign it to your hotbar (the same way as assigning potions). Some of them do some fun things, but they aren't really meant to be terribly useful, just fun. Deleting them will not mess up your achievement, as once it enters your inventory it counts. The same goes for collecting the rare fish in each zone. Given the amount of collectibles in the game, they weren't going to make it so you had no choice but to fill your valuable inventory and bank slots with them. So don't worry about deleting them. I've deleted almost every one I've gotten and I still have some of the achievements (I still have some more collectibles to find to get the rest).

As for the Skyrim achievement, in there you essentially get unlimited chest space. You could set aside a chest in one of your houses just for the Daedric Artifacts, and once you get 15 you can pull them all out into your inventory, get the achievement, and get rid of them. That way you don't have to keep carrying them and wasting carry capacity.

Make sure it shows up as collected under your achievements, if it does, get rid of it. If for some reason one doesn't, send in a help ticket (and don't get rid of the item yet)

Though they may both be listed as 'Trophy", trophies and collectibles are not the same. Trophies that you get as the result of some quest cannot be consumed. They stay in your inventory until you get rid of it. They also have no achievements related to them. And they can be used in Quick Slots or however they are triggered on console, giving some minor benefit or graphic effect. Collectibles, on the other hand, are rare items that drop from specific creatures. They can be consumed, at least on the PC, they are listed in your journal achievement tab under Trophy.

It seems that unlike the PC, they automatically register in your achievements when they go in your inventory. This has been a big question. It would be great if a console player can confirm that they register as soon as you pick them up. BTW, there are dyes that unlock when a group of collectibles is completed.

Use them them they go into your collection toward the appropriate achievement. You won't lose them but they will disappear from your inventory.

Don't believe me try using the Banekin Horn then check the appropriate achievement in:

Achievments, Trophies, General, Ovlivion Shard Gatherer...or simply open that achievement to confirm its there first. It will be dark until you use the Banekin Horn as which point it will be checked and bright white.
