How do people get such ridiculous leaderboard scores in Cyrodiil?

I played on the non-vet campaign consistently twice for 7 days (PS4 EU). Highest i finished I think was 12th. The leader got just over 3x my points, I think I hit 130k and they was around 390-400k. These numbers I cant confirm as it was weeks ago, but I remember the score being roughly 3x mine. I was on leave from work so could commit the time, maybe 8/10/12 hours a day. given that if someone shared an account, so 2/3 guys played in 8 or 12 hour shifts 24 hours a day, they could probably achieve 3x my score.

However, now I'm VR and had to change campaigns, the scores are ridiculous. in 3/4 days of this campaign someone was on 1.5 million. the entire top 10 had beat the highest in 7 days on non-vet, most by a great margin. How is this even possible?

It doesn't need to be multiple people playing the same account. You just need to know how to earn points and play a lot.

Get a good group together that can kill hundreds of other players before wiping, and you will get the same amount of points. The two best ways to get lots of ap is to either gank or play in a good(!) organized group. Following the zerg gives you close to nothing compared to that

Obtain lots and lots of Champion Points.

Play with other people who have lots and lots of Champion Points.

Play with others who have alliance war rank high enough to do skills like Magika Detonation.

Earn 100k+ in 4-5 hours easily by doing that.

    If your soloing.
    Repair walls, defend defend defened.
    Get the D ticks.

Identify who the good players are, good groups are, and follow them everywhere.

But the Champion Points really do help.
If you can solo 5 people (you seen those crazy dudes solo 5+ people)... Imagine a group of them or almost full group of them running around.
20 x 5... That's 100.. They can literally take on 100 newbs or massive amounts of unorganized players.

    Example,
    PC, EP, Chillrend
    Is that Tom Hanks??
He's going into glade farm tower?? Maybe I should too.
Maybe I should put a oil up top.
    60 DC rush in... WIPE
    5 mins later
    60 DC rush in... WIPE
    5 mins later
    60 DC rush in... WIPE
    20 mins later
40k D tick pops or run out get flag, 40k O tick pops.

    btw,
I only stress CP because yesterday on Haderus... I'm V9.. Fighting this level 14 dude..
That dude was tough as a rock. Them CP's make huge difference that guy should've got OWNED.
I fought V14s weaker than that dude but that dude level 14... He on some serious stuff.. Some serious CP.
Yes he was running with some serious V14s too. The V14s that can handle 5 other V14s.

You know those V14s are serious when you can see 5 players jump them and they shake them off like they aint nothing. The kind that aren't scared to fight 5-10 people or not scared to gank someone in front of there zerg cuz they know they'll own u in seconds AND get away or kill another guy AND get away.

So if you not good enough to handle 5 people at once... Ya better start learning whose the best and start stalking them.. Joining a guild, a serious guild is helpful too.

Being DC, and knowing how EP likes to get there AP.. I know if I see good EP players run into a tower.. IF I was an EP player looking for AP... I know to run into tower with them and follow them closely.

    One major thing.
Newbs are impatient. Thus never get D tick. (what we doing? what we doing? lets go lets go!)
Pros, they'll sit around 10 mins to get the D tick.

D ticks can be very very big.

Know somebody on the other faction who is willing to bring fodder to be farmed at a resource.

I've seen people accuse others of doing this, but I'd never seen it in action until recently. I had a friendly player tell me not to kill a particular enemy because he was bringing other enemies to kill. Me and my group killed them all anyway.

You just need to know how to get a huge amount of points.
Get a small group and kill zergs, take Def ticks, ninja keeps etc.
Both enemy alliances are fighting each other? Join them.
If you run solo and see a small group like 4-5.. Try it.
In case you're a NB you could easily split and then kill them.

Depending on the lag and the map itself it's not hard to get like 80k Ap per hour and even more for the time of a huge fight.

IMO one of the best way to earn AP is the old No Mercy way.

    1. Go deep into enemy territory with a decent group of 7-9 players.
    2. Take resource.
    3. Claim resource with troll guild name like "No Mercy AP Farm"
    4. Take defensive position and farm people whom come to resource.
    5. Earn D ticks at resource.
    6. Once you get wiped rinse and repeat at another resource.
    7. If you have enough people farm a scroll.

Thanks all - I've just realised from watching some videos that its much simpler to see with the PC version which I asume you all play. Console doesn't have any notifications of AP gains, DPS, absolutely anything on screen aside from the M/H/S bars and abilities slotted, so it's fairly difficult to work out when you are gaining AP unless you originally played the PC version (probably ESO addons on PC but the point still stands).

I've checked out the defensive ticks on this post http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en-GB/discussion/120377/defence-bonus-ap-rewards seems i've probably missed out on a lot by always rushing out of the keep on the counter attack, will have to ammend my tactics.

    Yup, no addons for consoles.

What you see on screen for consoles was pretty much what the devs intended the PC version to look like. They closed the APIs near game release. Quite a few of the guild crowd got all bent out of shape about that and ZOS changed course.

Guilds can farm/manipulate outpost or resource defense ticks. Successfully defend the objective and everyone except a few or one person hauls ass out. It will split the defense tick to those remaining within range. I've seen 40k defense ticks from extremely quick defenses before. Maybe 10 minutes tops. This is an old trick used in other RvR games as well but people will call you a cheater and all sorts of other nasty obscenities.

During my last tour of BWB, I was easily getting 100k+ a day.

Reading the map, and forecasting the action and prime AP hotspots is especially important. If nothing is really stirring, don't be afraid to create one.

If you are unsure of what offensive/defensive ticks are, I wrote a summary on it here,
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/1999456/#Comment_1999456

As you are a console player, you'll need to keep checking your AP count to see if you got attributed said tick.
