A Quick Question about Hoods [Clothier]

I usually wear mostly medium armor, but here's the thing: I love hoods.

Specifically, I love the hood that Crafty Lerisa wears (as seen in the costume section of the Crown store), simply for the fact that it actually covers the neck. I wanted to wear it, but I couldn't figure out which hood it was, so I spent an era and a half on my Veteran 6 Nightblade trying to recraft it.

Come to find out, that hood is a third tier (level 26-ish) Breton hood, which means it's useless to me stat-wise.

So I guess my question is: am I missing a higher-leveled version of that hood somewhere else (preferably one that I can craft), or am I just stuck with the final tier Breton hood for now? (I am aware that the PvP Akaviri hood also covers the face and neck, but I can't craft that--at least not yet.)

Also, is there any particular reason the third tier Breton light and medium armors look better than their final tier counterparts, or is that just me?
Wishlists:

Gameplay Wishlist:
-Winterhold [In all of its still-standing, pre-sunken, "rivaling Solitude" glory!]
-Frost class/skill line [Wardens count!]
-Unarmed/monk class or skill line
-Polearms/spears skill line [Aedric Spear counts, but...]
-Bound Weapons skill line [Casters should have more than sticks, yeah?]
-More skill lines in general

Housing Wishlist:
-Structure pieces, by the thousands! Walls, doors, stairs; everything from every racial/architectural style
-More functional furniture: doors that open/close, portals to travel throughout one home, etc
-"Lairs" or something similar: another separate, instanced space inside of a home
-NPC's: guards and bards, all day
-The Golden Vendor, but able to be placed in homes [Might help with some excess Cyrodiil traffic, maybe?]
-The Luxury Furnisher, but also able to be placed in homes [... Look, homes are huge and I'm tired of them being empty]
-Boat house [Fair Winds absolutely counts!]
-Boat furnishings in general
-Respec/redidication shrines
-Wayshrines [I can just port to a guildmate, I guess, but...]
-Undaunted pledge billboards/Undaunted NPC's
-Crafting writ billboards
-More mount/pet functionality when placed [Pathing counts!]
-Guild bank/store access
-Ability to repair gear at home [If traveling merchants in the middle of nowhere can do it, why can't I?]
-Other, smaller, fun functionality, like farming or mini-games [Tales of Tribute absolutely counts!]

QoL Wishlist:
-Text search boxes [Praise Tall Papa, thank you.]
-Item conversion/transmogrification [Outfit stations absolutely count!]
-Previewer/dressing room [Outfit stations absolutely count!]
-Instead of Arms Packs (or in addition to them), just sell me the blasted VFX
-Gear loadouts [Armory system counts!]
-Skill loadouts Armory system counts!
-Cloaks [I know you said no, but I'm not taking it off my list.]

It sounds like you haven't worked up the clothing skill line enough to make armor for your level. If you don't want to do that, find a crafter who already has it available. The higher levels actually look pretty good. Belows a link to how they look from V4-V6.

I have maxed my Clothier skill out, actually. It's just that, from what I can tell, the "final tier" of the Breton hood (with the half-mask) doesn't look anywhere near as cool as the penultimate tier.

    Does that make sense?

I guess what I'm saying is, I prefer the look of the Breton hood at level 26 over the look of the Veteran Breton hood--it looks sleeker to me, actually covers the neck, etc, etc.

But stat-wise, I can't viably use that hood because, at most, that piece of gear would be leveled to be about level thirty, or so.

Am I missing something, or is that pretty much the case?

Unfortunately you have not missed anything.

I really miss the first tier choices.... a lot of them.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Alright, so it's just that the tiers are silly. Thanks. For a while there I was convinced I was stupid.

Well, that's a shame. I'd really like to use the third tier hood over the final tier one; it just looks so much more shadowy and sneaky.

I roll with lower level gear mixed in with VR2 gear, because I mix match to make it look how I want.

I don't care about perceived loss of 300 armor. It is meaningless to me. There are a lot of things I don't do, that make my "stats worse". I hadn't even been wearing epaulets until I found the ancient elf ones (because the rest are ugly or look like football shoulder pads).

I have no trouble doing any dungeon (normal or vet) or content.

Suggestion: Just wear what is a good balance of stats versus how you want to be.

Any lack of stats, or deficiency, I make up with player skill and effort.. or you know, just bring a good group with me.

Addendum: People worry about stats too much, and sacrifice too much to have some numbers that make things vaguely more easy, and then complain how easy everything is, and how dumb their characters look. Win-win to dress how you want. Sometimes I'll just roll in regular clothes.

Try it. It may not make as much difference as you fear.

Plus if you know you really want to keep it, you can improve it up to yellow.

Thanks for the advice, guys. You have a pretty nice community here.

Yeah, I'll craft me up a lower level hood and see if I don't feel silly.

BTW: Over the last year it has been asked repeatedly that we'd like to be able to morph the lower level look onto the higher level stats. (Many of the top level armors are not as attractive as some lower versions) Some sort of armor skin switch that is not directly linked to the stats of the item. Unfortunately it has fallen on deaf ears with ZOS. Maybe some day.

Sure does. There are a lot of people that actually think some of the lower item graphics look better than the higher ones. I'm in the middle on the looks for the most part.
