It only drops from Equipment Harvest Nodes in Upper Craglorn. So, Void Ore, Night Wood, Void Cloth and Wewlas (and other critters that drop Shadowhides up there) will have a small chance to give up a Nirn Stone. No other node types drop this.

Or, buy them at a guild kiosk or from another player.

Its a rare drop. I think I have found 4 total, including surveys and just farming. It does not matter what platform your on. It is set up to be about 1 in 100 nodes. Problem is, so many people are farming such a small area that just finding the nodes is the hardest part. Perhaps there are not as many on the consoles farming that area yet.

Most of the ones I have found came from Kiosks or other players.

again no disrespect i see your a community ambassador...but i know all about nirn...

I wanted to hear from other console players who have found them.since i've heard from 5 other people in game that have only gotten them out of night wood..I have gotten my 4 from nightwood.

just wanted to see if others are either getting them from nightwood only or other stuff..

I spend 2 hours a night every night farming upper all nods and dogs..just seems oddd to have 4 drop from wood only and 5 other people tell me they got theres from wood..

Come to think of it, the only times I have gotten Nirn is from Wood....Both Surveys and Farming. Wait, my very first one came from a Quicksilver node in a survey. Other than that, all came from Wood sources.

There is no difference in the games, other than UI. So, anything that happens on the console applies to the PC version or vice versa. RNG is just as fickle a mistress on all the platforms. No need to segregate the peeps on this topic.

What about any type of armour with that trait on for research? Where is that to find?

There is only one drop in the game, as posted above, you get it for finishing up the MQ in Upper Craglorn.

Other than that, hit the Guild Kiosks. Larger towns and trading hubs tend to have more of a selection of player made traited items for research. If you find the stones, ask a guild mate to make you a traited item so you can research it. Just be nice and give them a tip for this.

After I find a piece can I use it to create an inferno staff and then use that weapon for researching my infeno staff?

You have to find an item that you want to use that has the Nirn Trait on it to Research. Once you research it, then you can make a staff for your self if you have an extra stone.

One thing to do is, if your requesting an item to be made for research, make it one you can use for a level or 3, then research that item once you have out leveled it.

I will say that Nirn on weapons is kind of meh, (it does not suck, it is just not all that and a biscuit). I tend to use the Sharpened Trait on my weapons TBH, and I can make almost any Nirn Weapon in the game other than Ice/Lightening Staves.

So far on console I have found it from nightwood and voidstone through a crafting writ survey. No voidbloom yet :( This stuff is just stupid rare. The amount of hours having to spend farming is insane. They could create an mmo based solely on nirncrux farming.....lol

On PC there are so many farmers it IS a game all by itself.

Farming is the closest thing to mount-racing in the game - unless you're a sorc bolt escaping between nodes. Killing mobs is a speed event, get rid of them quick or risk somebody sneaking in and stealing "your" node while you're busy.

And there's a "competitive advantage" to having a lot of CP put in the branch that gives you the reduced harvesting time passive...

I haven't yet tried to farm upper Crag on the console - I never did it on PC due to the fierce competition. Sounds like it might be the same on consoles.

I've only found 1 potent from a blacksmithing survey. I'm not really interested in making anything with the trait, I just want to learn the trait for completion's sake. However, I never really searched for nirn items in kiosks for research until about a month prior to console launch. So, I only had enough extra cash for a couple of BS pieces to research. I'm now on console and have only just started seeing nirn gear for sale - cheapest I've seen is 100K! Guess I'll have to wait a while until they come down to the PC price range (I paid 20K a piece for the two I purchased).
