I've just got this error after a crash to PS4 dashboard:
SAVE ERROR
The auto save file cannot be used because the data is corrupted. Do you want to overwrite it? Selecting "no" will disable saves.
This is on the screen before you select your server. What is the auto save file? Can I safely overwrite it or will it do something drastic like delete my characters?

Zensonar✭✭✭I just turned my PS4 off and went to do something else for a while, and when I came back a bit later the game just started as normal.
I did not select yes or no at the error screen, because I was not sure what effect it would have. I just turned the PS4 off.1 -

The local saved data for ESOTU only contains your preferences for the game, so if it becomes corrupted, you really won't lose much by overwriting it. If you are unable to overwrite the file, the steps in this article will help you delete the local saved data on your console.
If you delete or overwrite this file, your preferences such as Invert Y, etc will be lost but your characters and progress will still be there.
If this doesn't help and the error persists, please let us know and we'll be happy to take a closer look!4 -

The local saved data for ESOTU only contains your preferences for the game, so if it becomes corrupted, you really won't lose much by overwriting it. If you are unable to overwrite the file, the steps in this article will help you delete the local saved data on your console.
If you delete or overwrite this file, your preferences such as Invert Y, etc will be lost but your characters and progress will still be there.

Err. what does Invert Y mean?Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.

Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis0 -

Err. what does Invert Y mean?
Invert Y and X are options that let you change the direction you look with analogue sticks of a controller. Only strange people invert the Y-Axis on a controller lol. Think of your mouse and when you move it up, you look up. Well if it was inverted when you move it up you would look down. ahahaha (It's stupid).
People who don’t invert the Y-Axis in games have a more immersive playing experience playing first-person games because they are simulating actually being that character themselves.
