I am new to this game but in any RPG game I have always healed.. So I understand the mechanics and concept of healing but I do not know which spells are best used! Only lvl 12 right now so I am only healing 4 man dungeons.. Any advice? Thanks!

Best healing skills are Healing Springs (Grand Healing morph) and Breath of Life (Rushed Ceremony morph). You can stack the HOT of healing springs on people 3 times so it gets more powerful then more you cast it. Breath of Life should be used when you need a big heal immediately. When you need magicka, do heavy channel attacks with the resto staff. At the end of the channel, you get a bump in recovered magicka. That's really it. Everything else is optional.

Remember, once you get a bigger magkica pool and skills, you'll want to start incorporating DPS and Utility in there as well. Healing in this game is not 100% HP recovery. Its restoring HP, Mag, and Stam as well as adding defense, CC, and damage as well.
I'm kind of a small deal!

I just started doing some healing with my Templar. I don't use a Healing Staff, just the class skills. My main skill to use is Breath of Life, (morph of Rushed Ceremony) and Repentance (forget what that is the morph of, but it is a free spell that restores Stamina and Health from dead mobs). I can keep 4 person groups alive in Vet Dungeons with these two skills. And, do DPS at the same time.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

To add to what Nestor posted, the main reason for a Templar to use a healing staff is to help with magicka regen/conservation. If you're not having problems in that area, there's really no reason you have to use one. I generally slot one as my secondary weapon, just as a security blanket more than anything, but yeah it's not absolutely necessary at higher levels.

If you are having problems keeping magicka up, then go ahead and use a healing staff and then just do a rotation of Breath of Life + Heavy Attack. Over and over and over. Replace BoL with a DPS attack when everyone's health is topped off. Pretty simple.

I will say that I have ran out of Magic, but could quaff a potion. Healing staff would have helped with this, but I like to be able to throw out some damage when I am not keeping the peeps alive.
