What is the point of bots? Why is it a big deal?

Some of the problems with previous bots. Node & animal/critter farming, meaning it was getting impossible for the ordinary player to gain resources.
Bots sat on delve bosses, wiping them as soon as they spawned. This also occurred with quest boss characters too.
Generally they farmed anything lucrative at the time.
As of now. Can only assume that some farm CP. Or still doing any of the above.

Gina has weighed in on the macro and multi-boxing issue before. Multi-boxing is allowed as long as the player is in physical control of each machine without using any macros. That means 2 computers, 2 keyboards, 2 mice, no macros. It's the same as if two players were sitting side by side.

That really doesn't look like botting behavior to me. Looks alot more like a multiboxer. Which isn't against the TOS, super boring though and sad that someone would feel the need to be a one man raid team.

Botting is when no player is there controlling the movement. It does not matter if multiboxing is also being used so that two or more characters are slaved to one master. If that master is a bot, and no player is around to drive it, it is botting.

This video at the top is classic bot for the very reason that @Sharee described. It is likely they will always go to the same spot, whether there is a monster there or not, and make the same stops in a loop, following the same path.

The difference between a human doing that and a bot doing that is that the human, no matter how much they try, will always do it differently each time. The current bot technology will do it with computer precision, no matter how much they try to do otherwise.

Regarding multiboxing... Given the recent change in stance on keyboard macros, where they have shut down the use of keyboard macros even for chat emotes, I would find it hard to believe that they have not also changed their stance on multiboxing.

    you wrong

    multiboxing is allowed

developers told it long ago few times

Yes, they also said that using keyboard macros for emote purposes, not combat or character control, was perfectly legal. I have TWO emails from ZOS telling me it is OK. One of them is absolutely specific on the point and from a higher authority than the run-of-the-mill support staff. Earlier this year, they changed their mind and now I have confirmation from ZOS that this is absolutely a violation of ToS.

My guess is that multiboxing is no longer allowed, but hey, feel free to test it out and see if I am wrong.

If it turns out multiboxing is allowed, I am going to resume using my simple chat emote keyboard macros. If people can multibox all they want, but I get banned for pressing a key for "/reloadui", then that ban will be a welcome change to my gaming habits.

There are 8 bots killing dreughs at Vivec's Antlers day and night (AD faction, first VR zone). I guess that's why those scraps are so cheap.

I saw something odd yesterday in Khenarthi's Roost, which I can only guess was a bot. An Alit was attacking this character over and over to the point it went to 0 health many time, but the character never died. It would just suddenly have 60-80 health right back and the Alit would kill it again. Watched this happen for five minutes until someone else came along an killed the Alit. The character never moved.

I went there today and found out that there are 12 bots running around! I guess I have to find another grinding spot. Bye bye dreughs.
