If we need PS+ to play ESO on the ps4 we are still P2P and now we got to pay more a month to get the DLC for free why not just sell a season pass and the crown points in the PS store like with AC unity and other games that do a season pass offer

You don't need PS+ for ESO. But on M$ xbone you do.
Yes you do: [source]
Do I need a PlayStation Plus membership to play The Elder Scrolls Online?
Yes. As with any standard multiplayer game on these platforms, an internet connection and an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus membership will be required to play.

I see it was updated on the 21st of this month. Sony changed its stance last week, with the announcement of ESO going BTP. This is an important change. Thanks for the correction :)

Will playing online with The Elder Scrolls Online have a separate subscription compared to PlayStation Plus? — @NathanaelMoner
A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online. PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will pay—nothing more.

Also their constantly claiming that the game is "subscription free", when it's not and the amount you have to pay for play station plus is the same amount as paying for eso-plus. And considering all the down time people are experiencing, I think they should make an exception for paying the online membership just like PlayStation did with other some other mmo's.

I guess this could be annoying if you strictly use you ps for this 1 game

What ? PS+ is $50 PER YEAR and you can often get it for less from Walmart or Bestbuy... Eso + is $15 per month = $180 per year....

I'm not pleased either that PS+ is required (because of the downtime when PSN goes down, because PS+ pays for itself with free games and discounts...), but let's not make up facts...

I like PS Plus. There are times I got good discounted games as well as good free games. Even got 6 bucks off of ESO.

Here is the reason... Sony does not require PS+ for games that are F2P or that require a game subscription... however, any game that is B2P they require PS+ to access. I remember when PS4 was first coming out they were talking about ANY online game was going to require PS+, but since then they've made some changes to this policy.

Sorry, I saw the fact on a thread I should of checked but I didn't. Anyway Ive never subscribed to playstation plus before buying Eso and for me it will cost $70 (aus dollar) a year and if I want Eso plus it will cost $231 a year. What I don't like is that sony said you only have to pay the Eso sub, then when they changed it to having to pay playstation plus sub instead they didn't release anything on it. All I want is an offical guy saying wether it's gonna continue or not.

Gonna note that this thread was started 6 months ago.

The reason you need ps plus for eso is because it is b2p. This makes it no different than Call of Duty, Battlefield, Little Big Planet, GTA V etc...

Games with a required sub(final fantasy) or that are free to play(dcuo) do not require ps plus. ESO's sub is optional(and until dlc comes out does not seem worth if I do say so myself) so it is not exempt from the ps plus requirement.
