I'm new to this game, got it day one of the console launch. I'm about to hit VR2 and I was thinking to myself, this game seems tailor made for console (yes, i know it was lol) but I was thinking to myself with the combat unlike any MMO I've ever played I probably would not have liked this game at all on PC. I am one of those people who have to play in first person mode, I've tried third person and NOPE. The combat on controller is smooth and works great, on a PC I don't think I would have gotten the same enjoyment.

I play on PC in 3rd person and I feel exactly the same as you do about PC as you do about the console version. I couldn't imagine trying to struggle to play ESO with a limited controller and those little joysticks. ESO plays great on the PC...I guess its just a matter of what you're most comfortable with in the end.

Yeah, I didn't want to take away from PC users, just my personal enjoyment I could only see coming from console version lol. They just did a great job converting from PC to console.

Yup. Being limited to the only the buttons on the controller for an MMO seems....awful. That, and there's no way I could play the game without addons. The base UI is terrible.

I do agree with the lack of add-ons. OMG I need a DPS Meter STAT!!! Damage numbers would be great too. There are a few downsides I'll admit, but playing comfortably is the main point for me I guess.

This is what broke me for PS4. I actually bought the PS4 version, transferred my account, logged in and went "LOLNOPE" within about 3-4 hours. Massive waste of $$$ but in the end it brought me back to the PC version. The gameplay I can deal with. The graphics I can barely notice a difference with. But being forced to play with the base UI, have no addons to correct for that, and have no text chat? NOPE.

Though I do have an amusing memory from it. I did the area voice chat in Daggerfall. Walked around going "Hello? Heellllooooo?" After about 20 minutes I heard someone mumbling to themselves.

Them: "Hmm... mmhmm... mumblemumblemumble yea that's right... there we go... mumblemumble"
    Me: "Hello?"
    Them: "Mumblemumbl- ... ... 'ello?"
    Me: "AHA! A PERSON!"
    Them: "... yup."
Me: "So... how do you like PS4 version?"
Them: "... it's 'kay. I guess. Never tried PC."
Me: "You're the first person I've talked to on voice chat! I was just testing to see if it worked."
Them: "Yea... most people are in their own parties so it's usually quiet here."
Me: "Cool... yea... *awkward silence* Well, thanks for helping me test voice!"
    Them: "Yup."
    Me: "Um... bye?"
    Them: "Yup."

Ahh... yea. I don't miss console version at all lol.

It really comes down to what your comfortable with and what you are used to. I'm primarily a console gamer but play some games on my PC from time to time. I've always preferred using a controller that a keyboard. I fell like I have better control but I know that is just because it is what I am used to and I'm sure many PC players feel just the opposite because they are use to their keyboards.

One thing I am always curious about with people who waited to play on consoles. Why would you not have gotten the PC version and used your game controller on PC using a program like Pinnacle or Xpadder to program it for ESO? It just seems like you'd get your controller and addons too...like the best of both worlds.

Bear in mind I haven't owned a console since the original Playstation so I'm genuinely curious.

I personally don't like using programs like Xpadder only because I tried it in the past with I think it was Mass Effect 3, and it was sort of unresponsive and sort of complicated, cause I like to play with Legacy controls. Had a bad experience I guess.

Best thing console has that PC never can get is haptic feedback... it adds a ridiculous amount of immersion!

Thay being said, itd be cool if us blue collar folks could have the time for 4k monitors and super computers... but we don't so I'm glad we have the console option.

quite a few reasons. For one, not everyone likes to sit in front of a desk to play on the PC. Peoples' next response is alway "well you can always connect your PC to the TV," and my response to that, is that is not always doable for people. If someone's main computer is upstair, for example, telling them to connect to their TV that is downstair isn't going to fly.

Xpadder and apps like it are great, but again, you have to spend time coming up with the right controller scheme that works for you. I rather they give me that option off the back, like you can with PC games. As far as add-ons, one of the reasons why I avoided the PC version was to avoid add-ons. I think people depend way too much on them, and honestly, it doesn't really make anyone better players if they need to rely on them. Many people say it is impossible or difficult to beat end game contents without it, and I'm interested in seeing how many console gamers will do just that.

Finally, console gamers aren't as jaded with MMOs as PC gamers are. With MMOs being relatively new on consoles, there is a newfound freshness at seeing people excited about trying something new and helping them learn about the gameplay. Its refreshing to get a new set of eyes and not have to worry about elitism and such (at least not yet) that you get with the PC community, sadly. There's a lot to like about consoles that PC just don't offer imo (not to mention the first party titles and obscure games you just can't find too quickly on PC that you can on consoles). Everyone have their preference.

I don't have a high end PC, just 16gb ram and 4gb graphics. On one game I tried on PC, I was told by the game that moderate/average graphics level was suggested for me. What's the point of playing a version on PC that doesn't look as good as my console version? (That game is World of Tanks, and it looks better on my xbox 360 than on my PC.)
If something doesn't come to console, well, too many good games already to give it much thought. Plus, the idea that mods could give some players unfair advantages to a degree not possible on console, and I'd rather just stay away from it all. Last pc games I played were around 2000-2002 at the latest.

But I understand that for those with high-end computing power, the game looks better and runs better. I think console's controller is about 1 or 2 buttons short of optimal; anything beyond that, and it seems like just shortcut keys on keyboard is all we'd be missing.

When I play games on PC I do usually use my controller (even have USB NES, Genesis and N64 controllers for my Emulators). Some games are controller friendly while others are not nearly as responsive as they should be. Also, My PC is primarily for work and I don't need the temptation of being able to jump on ESO on my lunch break and wind up losing half the day. Also, because I use my PC for business it has little need for a good graphics card or other high end hardware needed for newer games. I saw someone post earlier that after the last patch ESO now has higher system requirements on PC. I would hate to have to update my PC to continue playing a game I have been playing for the last year

If I buy a game for my PC I normally have to turn all the graphic setting down if I can even play the game due to lag. With my console, if I buy a game the day the console is released or when a new game comes out 5 - 7 years later it will still play with full functionality.

Forget about PCs being expensive, they require a bunch of TLC to get them to run properly. I just want to play my games when I want. I don't want to troubleshoot drivers and updates.

I know PC people don't see that as a thing, but to me its just not worth the time. I want to play, have fun and move on with my day.

This game did a decent job graphics and gameplay wise of making them similar enough that I was willing to forgo my super gaming machine for the PS4 version. That's actually not what drew me away from console and back to PC for ESO, though.

This game NEEDS addons. The base UI is awful. And no text chat? I can't imagine. Oh, and all the times I've seen forums flooding with "ESO IS DOWN?!" while I'm playing, only to realize it was PSN that went down.

ZOS did you guys no favors on console version. Things that could have been helped were not. Why no text chat? PS4 can support a keyboard. The addons can't be helped but they've had how long to see what the most popular ones were... they couldn't have included that functionality in with the console version for you? Bah, I say.

In this situation it's not a PC vs Console thing for me, it's PC version vs Console version, and they really held back on the console version.

I started this game like any other TES game, but some dungeons and definitely pvp are too busy not to see what is going on completely around me.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

Same. part of the draw of ESO was first person mode, but by level 20 on my melee NB I was 100% third person mode. The difference in what I was able to do between the two was just too great. :(

Yeah. I never said PC wasn't superior in most ways, its just about 75 percent more expensive and 25 more labor intensive than I am interested in. That's just my personal opinion.

I don't really need text chat and haven't heard many actual players on console ask for it. Its a different crowd. More vocal and casual. Again the PC people migrated towards the option that suited them. The same for the console crowd.

As of my original posting I have indeed done PVP and vet level dungeons. I still try and stay true to the first person as much as possible, but yeah, some bosses require third person perspective. My sorc mainly is first person, unless otherwise required not to be. My healer and tank are all third person though. The over the shoulder view in third person makes it harder for me to do damage.
