Cyrodiil's Faction Lockouts

I know that something was said about ZOS wanting to remove these entirely but they are most definitely still a thing. Not only are they ridiculous in their current application but with the way that guesting is about to change you're practically "bricking" characters and accounts. This needs to change. Maybe a 15-30 minute lockout when entering a campaign from another faction but you shouldn't be limited to restrictions on what you set your guest/home to.

Your game is not populated enough for you to have this kind of a lockout system with no travel to player options. Often, I find myself with no one on my guild lists or friend's list in Cyrodiil because it's that dead at times.

Here's an example:
There are 4 campaigns. Azura's, Thornblade, Chillrend and Haderus.
There are 3 alliances. EP,DC and AD.
You can set a guest campaign and a home campaign but never remove or desert from those campaigns ultimately locking your characters into empty campaigns.

Common logic can find the problem with the system above.

Assuming that all campaigns can hold a decent population (which they can't) you never set your guest campaign then you're fine however there is no way to remove yourself from a campaign entirely. Call it a deserter or whatever you want but this is definitely a problem. As a player that plays multiple factions for no other reason than to play multiple factions with other people this is a pretty big problem.

The PvP campaign restriction system is so intent on making things difficult for players that it's actually ended up bricking accounts for pvp. This should have been fixed or addressed when the first round of campaign reductions happened.

I know that you're aware of this problem but a campaign desertion penalty or option to remove a character from a campaign entirely needs to be implemented before the "Travel to Player" system is removed.

Pretty sure they said they were resetting home and guest campaigns with the changes so just choose wisely when it starts over.

That is not a solution. If I could predict the future and people's intentions when they decide to abandon a campaign in mass exodus then "choose wisely" would be a fair thing to say.

Hi Lion, oh those fun 80s movies. ;-) Sorry to digress from your original post. I just can't help the Indy Jones references when the travel-to-player/campaign change issue comes up, lol.

Hi Brian. Just to add, the current method would work, IF you block the travel to another player, like you mentioned in previous posts. HOWEVER, it means that characters may be blocked from entering campaigns with their friends/guildies if they choose wrong.

Allowing same characters from different alliances in the same campaigns will just cause emp churning to continue as it already does. Large guilds from other factions have previously approached my AvA guild leader with proposals to have our EP guild back off certain times of day in campaigns, while they turn the map yellow or blue, then the other color, then give it back to us. He.. to put it nicely.. told them where to put their proposal, so they do it while most of my guild is at work/sleeps.

However, PLEASE allow the selection of "NO Campaign" to be an option, to clear if you decide you want use a different faction character for a campaign.

Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Players won't feel so compelled to move around if the campaign they are in provides good fights. Yes some move around to control campaigns for other reasons.

Good = challenging + reasonably lagless

Faction pride is NOT a common motivator, and therefore if forced/controlled just creates bitterness.

Too many campaign options just spreads an ever decreasing PvP population out. So there's a sweet spot of pop to campaigns. Currently when campaigns are pop-locked it's more frequently due to PvErs or less engaged PvPers. Not sure how to address when 60% of a factions population (in terms of pop mgt. for PvP guilds finding good fights) is doing anything but fighting the other alliances. Happened last night, full set of bars, 8ish sized group, rest were picking flowers or scurrying around like ants with no queen/direction. Sure would be great if we could have an instanced campaign to fight GvG as an option.

Varied campaign scoring mechanisms only matter if they synergize with what most want, good fights, AP and campaign rewards that are useable (ie: not resto for a stamplar). Unless there is something more coming, all the various scoring approaches proposed seem just like lipstick on the same pig.

From my point of view it is kind of a non issue. They said they were going to clear everyone's server choices after the patch, I have an AD and DC alt but they were assigned to campaigns just for buffs and were essentially crafting alts. After the patch there will be no buff server and no reason to assign them again to any server. with 2 characters in one faction you can have access to all 4 servers at any time as long as you leave your other faction characters unassigned. I can see why someone who wants to play cross faction would have to make harder choices but if there is going to be even an illusion of a barrier to preventing spying and all that jazz they need some kind of lockout mechanism.

Brian please discuss this and implement it.

Anyone who plays with characters in all three factions will be permanently locked into the campaigns they initially choose under the current restrictions to the home/guest system.

As for this being a "non-issue," it's a non issue for you. For me, and others like me - including Brian Wheeler who on ESO Live mentioned that he also plays characters in all three factions - we have hundred and hundreds of hours invested in characters so it is an issue for some members of the community. As for spying, these characters exist, how does this system prevent it? My EP is homed on Thornblade. My DC is homed on Azura. After a campaign cycle, my blue guild switches to Thornblade. Throw in a yellow toon and the staggered campaign lengths, it is cumbersome and very expensive AP wise to just juggle campaigns. Impossible, if you ever assign a guest campaign to one of your characters. What will happen is My DC could not play the game legitimately with my blue guild. And the system does nothing to prevent me from hopping onto my Red in Thorn...

Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

    @AhPook_Is_Here

The spying excuse is so far beneath the problems that this lockout system creates. Create a 15-30 minute deserter penalty if you want to switch over to another character on a different alliance and call it a day. If I can't pvp on my alts in a semi-decently populated server then there's obviously a design problem. Idgaf about buffs and I don't need them to succeed in the game. Overnight there's one campaign that's worth a damn and I can't access it on all of my characters.

If you remember this game is supposed to be a social rpg. Creating useless barriers is not promoting the social aspect of the game.

I think that a no campaign option that just allows people to roam without leaderboard standings or rewards would be fine as well. I don't care about EoC rewards. It's mostly useless garbage anyways.
