Even knowing that I spend way more time than most other people doing this, I still can't see a way to make any sort of profit out of this (not that it's necessarily a bad thing).
I guess the way I see it, for players that don't want to do the farming, they can always find a friendly alchemist and buy their potions. They really aren't all that expensive compared to what you'd pay for the raw ingredients anyway. If you're just looking to level up alchemy, you can use any old junk ingredient and get to 50 very efficiently.
The problem is less of not wanting to farm and more of there's just not enough nodes out there with the underground bot farmers and the slight absurdity that every other node except enchanting stones gives more than one item.
There's three or four ingredients that are highly desired, particularly the ingredients in the health/magicka/stamina super potion. People want to make their own, but aren't finding any in the field, and when they go to buy they're overpriced *because* of scarcity.
Before recently, the bots left the alchemy and enchanting nodes alone.
Now they take aspects and alchemy nodes.
