Can you sit down in ESO?

    Just because destiny can does not mean every game can, but yes. Go to social then emotes. There are plenty to choose from. You can even assign then for quicker access.

    All the Emotes I ever used only lasted a few seconds.
    Is there any Emotes that you can turn on and off at will?

    Once you have found an Emote through the menu, you can assign it to a quickslot which you can then access in-game by holding D-pad Right.

    Not unless you have magic powers then nothing is at will. You can assign them to the dpad though
