What is cheaper on the long run?

It almost feel like buying crows once in a while is actually better, right?

Depends on your definition of long run.

The only advantage for a subscription is the experience boost and the eventual dlc--which the DLC will change this stance most likely.

But for now a subscription gives you 1500 crowns a month, so you pay 1 cent (US$) per crown and get an experience boost. Your other option would be to purchase crowns, which their biggest pack is 5500 for $39.99. You end up paying 0.73 cents per crown.

So if your looking strictly at price per crown, your best bet is to purchase the 5500 pack of crowns. It's $5 cheaper than a 3 month subscription, and you get 5500 crowns instead of the accumulative 4500.

That is kinda my point, plus usually these games always have sales on Crows, which you can always wait. Yes, when DLCs are around you rent the DLC, but if for some reason you stop subbing, you lose it.
Crowns will always be better because you can buy them.

That has been my biggest gripe with the subscription. I find it ridiculous that you pay for a subscription to rent game content, but if you ever decide you don't want to pay the subscription, you lose content or have to pay more money for it on top of what you already paid. Depending upon what they decide to charge, I will like just buy it.

Until they give me a legitimate reason to purchase the loyalty program, I'm going to pass.

Yep, it's like we don't force you to buy the content, you can always subscribe, oh, but remember, the content isn't yours, you're renting it.
Right now subbing for 10% is nothing, and like you said, buying Crowns is still cheaper on the long run. Yes, depending on DLCs prices you might end up having to buy 2x5500 crowns, but you can still save them.

Sub is like buying Crowns at a non optimal price and you get a present (lame one though)

I've been subbed since day 1, and I am still subbed. It's only $15, and I get access to all future DLC, increased XP/AP/Gold gains, and monthly crowns to boot. If you can't afford a $15 monthly subscription, they you probably have other things you need to be doing besides playing video games.
Can't find the items you are looking for? Need a place to trade? We welcome ESO players of all platforms at ESO Trade, the home for trading of goods and services in the lands of Tamriel.

It has nothing to do with affording or not. It's about the fact of what I'm getting out of my 15 bucks.

Will you pay 50 bucks for an internet connection that is 512 kb/s ?

Right now subbing has no real benefit, and to get access to all DLCs you have to keep subbing. Let's say for some odd reason after 2 years there are 10 DLCs, so if you don't feel like subbing anymore, because Zos is disappointing you, suddenly you have to buy 10 DLCs because you either sub or lose them.

There is no real benefit at subbing. 10% extra is meaningless. You don't even get a better deal at crowns, because as Chaos pointed out, buying 5500 is still cheaper.

    Let's look at Rift:

    - 10% discount on the store
    - +10% movement speed on mounts, 25% faster mounting
    - weekly gifts exclusive to subbers
    - halo to show off you're a subber
    - teleport anywhere every 30 min for free
    - earn loyalty rewards the longer you're subbed

Look at all the benefits I've listed compared to ESO. Yes, you can throw the "Rift is not ESO" argument, but what are you getting out of your 15 bucks? If I'm gonna pay monthly I do pretend to get something out of it.

-since day 1.... a title that means nothing other than making you feel special
-its only $15.... an arrogant remark implying that we are discussing affordability, which we aren't
-access to all future DLC.... but god forbid if you have to skip a month on your subscription because you don't have access then
-XP boost... big whoop. I'm leveling just fine
-gold boost... big whoop, gold is useless aside from purchasing overpriced items from guild stores and bank space
-monthly crowns... yeah we already stated that the price per crown rate is better by purchasing the 5500 pack
-if we couldn't afford it, that doesn't mean we have other things to do beside playing video games.... I'm a full time student, work full time, and I live paycheck to paycheck... always have time for video games... but hey. if you want to make my car payments then I'll gladly subscribe to ESO

I won't take you seriously for one main reason... you're argument was about us not being able to afford.... yet we're discussing how spending $40 on 5500 is a better option... do you even brain?

I would also like to point out that the OP asked about in the long run. So Mr Subscribed since day 1, I will give you this and this alone...

If you are looking at the short term, then yeah the subscription is good because it's only costing you 15$ a pop.... but that's the ONLY advantage
