Perfect Roe Drop Rates - Stealth Nerfed?

Before last Monday's patch the drop rate was around 0.8% to 1%, basically 1 in 100 cleaned fish would net you a Roe, give or take. This was confirmed by many guild mates and addon users of Votan's fishing addons on ESOUI.com.

Now suddenly, we have seen this jump to cleaning over 400 fish each and not a single Roe! (We being myself and several guildies).

Was this changed? If so I think it should have been in the patch notes as something major like that will effect how I justify investing my time.

There are cheap XP Scrolls waiting for you in Guild Store that last 2 hours and not just petty 30 minutes as XP Potions do. And there's also ZOS waiting for you to buy them.

Now you know what's happening, don't you?

Same here, noticed that too. Thank god i had accumulated a few Roes before the nerf.

I haven't gotten a single one since ...

What a joke, they are becoming complete thieves now. Extreme money grubbers. I mean 3000 Crowns for a mount? That still throws me for a loop, I once again am getting turned off, ZOS is making it very hard for me to care to play this cash cowing game anymore, plus fitting other things into my life besides it for the past while I've fallen way behind numerous players even having over 370 Champion Points (on PC version)...

RNG is RNG. At launch I knew pf people going 4-500 without a single roe. I got 2 in about 700 fish. It is paranoia to cry 'nerf' for money.

I'm Canadian, so for my CAD currency that is more like a full $30. Fortunately, I from here on out only plan on here spending crowns on some Khajiiti mounts (gotten all so far except the Lioness one, might pass on that one, looks a little plain...) and then probably only on wolf mounts whenever they come out, pretty sure that is just a matter of time. May be quiiiite a few months, but eventually...

It's just rng folks, with a drp rate of ~1/100 you need at least 10,000 fish to even make a generalization of the drop rate changing either way. Anyways, I just got 1 out of about 30 today and 6 fish later got a second one... prior to that none in the last 100.

I have cleaned only 200 fish, since patch, without a roe. Working on my master angler though.

Not so sure about the numbers. On one group of a few hundred fish I was getting 1 roe in every fifty fish.

Five minutes later I started a second batch of almost 700 fish and got 2.

It's like when fishing there were times I got all thee trophy fish on the first fishing hole and then for others I would have to go through a few hundred fish before I got the one that I needed. RNG

As long as you give them your money voluntarily, they are not "stealing" it from you. What you do is up to you.
Them being greedy is another story, though.

IIRC the bought potion lasts for TWO hours. The ones that we craft last for 30 minutes.

I've probably cleaned less than a 1000 fish since the patch and have gotten 10 Roe. Got one today from a batch of 12 fish. Have gone through several hundred with none. But overall, drop rate has been the same for me. Not that I think ZOS isn't capable of a stealth nerf, but it hasn't affected me.

If you max out the provy skill line, 1 roe will create 4 xp potions, so that's 2 hours. The time spent to get that roe is out of balance reward it gives.

I wasn't. I was just asking if anyone was experiencing this, or if it was an undocumented (stealth) change.

I'm up to 500 fish now with no Roe, but I guess you're right. RNG is RNG.

I'll be concerned when I hit 1000.

Plus with the passive from Alchemy it lasts 40 min, so over 2.5 hours, actually.

This is my feeling as well. The time it takes to get Roe at the drop rate I am seeing you will actually LOSE experience as opposed to simply ignoring XP drinks and fishing altogether and just playing the game.

I've filleted over 3000 fish prior to this latest patch and got a roughly 1% drop rate for perfect roe. Haven't tried it since the patch, though. I'll do some more fishing for the angler achievements and give it a try later.

1 roe nets you 4 pots with maxed provisioning. With another passive from the provisioning skill line, each pot lasts for 50 minutes instead of 30. That's 200 minutes or 3h20m out of 1 roe vs. 2h for one scroll.

I went through 2531 fish yesterday and got 37 roe, which is pretty lucky! Must have taken some of the roe you guys were due!

It's a X% chance per fish, not a ratio.

I did the entire Cyrodiil achievement, then filleted all those fish. I said I'd be happy with six. I got six.

0.935% success out of 642 fish. Not a drop rate. Just how successful I was on one trip.

I can project how successful I might have been out of 1000.

0.935/642 = x/1000 ---> 642x = 935

> x = 1.456%
Or between 14 and 15 Roe per thousand.

oddsmaker got 1.462% success out of 2531. Projected success 2.888% per 5000 or 144 Roe per 5000
Not a drop rate. Just playing with one person's numbers to get other numbers that cannot be proven.

The only number that matters is your own personal success rate at X% per fish.

RNG is RNG? You just wasted hours(?) of your weekend fishing and cleaning, earning 0 xp while some guy with money to spend just clicked the store and earned a few champ points. Yeah RNG is RNG but qualitatively this is jacked up. The crafting pots are finely tuned to be defeated by the cash shop.

Got perfect roe last night, only caught & filleted five fish. Go to another two fishing locations afterward, in the same zone, catch approximately another 15 with nothing.
Last week I caught 20-30 without any luck too. Purely RNG.

Sold my perfect roe for $13k.

Seen 50% xp potions go for 35k too.

If you ask me, that's pretty cheap for a 50% xp potion.

Other games, you gotta pay at least $5 to $10 for them.

35k is chump change, people run with millions.

Makes sense they decrease the drop rate because 50% going that cheap, common now.

The in-game potions can last up to 50 minutes, and you can get up to 4 of them from a single Roe. And you can get the Roe yourself with minimal effort (RNG is another story).

In fishing myself, going for Master Angler, I ended up with 19 Perfect Roe just from doing the DC fishing areas. Whether the drop rate has been nerfed or not... I don't know, but...
