So, Khajiit Racials have been discussed off and on for months on the forums now, with no real clear direction coming from it.
ZOS has recently announced plans to improve a number of the racials.
While pleased with the Khajiit change to provide us with more Crit Rate, still feel that Khajiit will be underperforming
in the role that ZOS has built them around.
Some background on race division and racial changes:
Tank races: Nord (Ebonheart); Khajiit (Aldmeri); Orc (Daggerfall)
Mage races: Dunmer (Ebonheart); Altmer (Aldmeri); Breton (Daggerfall)
Thief/Rogue races: Argonian (Ebonheart); Bosmer (Aldmeri); Redguard (Daggerfall)
Khajiit is set up as being tied into the Tank races here in ESO, though they were more of a rogue race in the rest of the series.
Post-changes, Khajiit will be the lowest performing Tank race though.
Nord will have Increased Health, Increased Health Regen, Damage Reduction -- great for being up in someone's face and surviving
Orc will have Increased Health and Stamina, Increased Health Regen, Increased Melee damage -- great for being up in someone's face while also damaging them
Khajiit will have Increased Weapon Crit, Increased Health Regen, and Increased Sneakiness -- Not terrible, but not great across the board
Only the Health Regen makes sense for the role they have designed Khajiit to fill.
Weapon Crit and Stealthy make sense for Khajiit in the series.
Recognizing that context, this thread is not about asking for a passive change that changes Khajiit's role in the system.
Though I may not necessarily agree with the decision to make Khajiit into a Tank race when they were more typically a Thief race, can totally respect ZOS' decision to do so. I realize that the game needs to have a design aspect to it where each of the different alliances has a distinct race for each Archetype; since the game was originally designed for races to be static to alliances (and indeed presently the functionality is a Crown Shop item and not a default option to this day).
My proposal is to make a change that preserves Khajiit racial flavour, while also enhancing their role as a Tank with a passive that benefits all builds.
Robust -- Health Regen is solid, though everyone who wants their Khajiit not to tank complains about it -- if ZOS replaced it with a Max Health passive I would be totally cool with that though
Carnage -- Weapon Crit without Spell Crit is a great idea -- the Khajiit have a long history as Martial Artists and would know more about the physical weak points on the body
Stealthy -- fits Khajiit role-play, but underperforms for Khajiit's role --
If they change Khajiit passives further; would like to see Stealthy replaced with Quick Reflexes adding a base % chance to dodge
It would function like a permanent Evasion buff but stack with the buffs in the system
It fits Khajiit lore and character design by fitting in with martial arts and sneakiness, while also helping Khajiit fulfill the Tank archetype that ZOS wants them to play
Changing Stealthy to Quick Reflexes still preserves the Khajiit flavour by making them agile catlike thieves (drawing on inspiration from earlier Elder Scrolls titles with Agility and Dodge stats) while providing a meaningful buff to the Tank playstyle in particular. This buff extends to all builds though, because it acts like the passive damage reduction that Nord receives, but in a Khajiiti flavour.
