Keep getting dropped for Excessive Message Rate, even though I hardly chat!? o_O

Been dropped from the game twice tonight, with I believe Error 318. Only saw recent threads on this under PS4 and Xbox One, but I'm on PC and getting this.

Usually around the same time I get a bit of a latency/lag spike, though, I have to figure that comes from trying to still input controls while the server is busy booting me to the curb?

Both times happened while I was out in the middle of nowhere... once while swimming down a long river trying to find a way around a wall in Shadowfen. The other was while I was riding my horse through the woods. Each disconnect happened probably about 5 minutes apart.

I use Xpadder and a PS3-controller, I suppose it's possible the mapped inputs might be doing it? What's odd is, I've been using the same method since I started playing this game about three weeks ago or so, or however long it's been... never had this issue before. I changed some mapping on the keys, but outside of doing an dropped-anchor in the game solo and the basic attacks along with siphon-attack (on the triangle-button), the only other real controls I'm using is the left-stick which I have mapped to arrow keys (up, down, left, right... previous it was W,A,S,D... was worried that if I bumped the controller at times while I chat it might toss in a "phantom letter"), other than that, I have sprint and jump both bound to the X-button. If I hold down the X-button and move I sprint (shift-key), if I just tap it, I jump (space bar).

I've checked and double-checked, even triple-checked my Xpadder control-mapping as well as all addons... can't think/imagine what's causing this to happen. o_O

Anybody else getting this same disconnect and any ideas why?

PS - At times if I do chat, I hang around in town and chit-chat... kind of hard to chat while sprinting on the back of a horse, or on foot. -_-

It's the same thing they are having on console. (And they don't have text chat.)

It's lag. What happens is that your client sends messages to the server for each action done in game. But when there is lag, messages will accumulate client side then all get sent at once and it freaks the server out

Think of it this way, normally your client would send like this w.w.w.w.w.w.w. each period being an acceptable length of time for the server. With the lag its wwwwwwwww all at once and the server takes it as spam.

Was kind of thinking that might be the case. And I can understand keeping from server getting overloaded... but would be nice if the spam-checking actually checked towards actual spam. I've had lag off and on, more off than on, over the past few weeks (sometimes even seeing ping for a short while hit in the 20,000+ range) I've been playing, never had this happen before. Hoping this isn't going to become a norm since I play over WiFi... if this is what my foreseeable future in this game looks like, being spam-kicked every 5 minutes, I may just have to go play something else... and that's not a threat, it's more not really having a choice as it makes it rather unplayable, heh.

And I wouldn't think it's a problem with xpadder. Just some sort of lag or client server disconnect.

I play on what is essentially WiFi. (Specifics are annoying.) I've had it a few times and so have people on hardline connections. I'd say give it a bit and see if it reoccurs.

Indeed. And yeah, specifics are annoying where I am as well. My router is one floor up and on the other side of the house, and it's an old house, so running a hard-line to my gaming room would be quite the pain. xD
