Hello all. I've been with ESO since beta and one of the bugaboos of the game, imo, are these sets. As such, I'm starting a discussion here regarding unique armor sets, y'know Sting of the Viper, the Shadows set, Salvation set, etc etc.
While the buffs associated with these are excellent and support varied play styles, the actual armor appearance is not unique at all (except for a very few, I think).
My main suggestion for ZOS, and one I'm sure they've heard, is to make all unique sets look, well, unique. The Archers Mind set simply wouldn't be a bosmer kit then but something wholly different that stands out.
Failing that, I propose the following:
Allow players to convert special sets to ANY racial style.
In addition, I would suggest that a new crafting skill line be added, perhaps to the World section of skills (or to clothing, blacksmithing and woodworking, respectively, if easier).
Say for instance that this is a 40 point skill line. At level ten, "allow armor to be converted with 4 pieces of the required style material." Thus if you want to convert the Viper set to Altmer, you'd need four adamantites PER PIECE to do so. At level 20, only 3 motifs would be required, two at 30 and finally at level 40, only one style material would be necessary.
This would have the double effect of draining down some of these unending motif stacks that we all probably have banked.
My preference would be for all new, unique armor styles but I think the secondary suggestion is viable as well.
Thoughts? Better ideas?
