It seems nearly impossible to get Ironhide Scraps, at least in the Aldmeri Dominion area.
For Heavy and Light armor crafting, Galatite and Ironweed are plentiful in Greenshade, VR 3 zone, so you can stock up to be ready to craft when you hit VR 4.
Knowing that Ironhide scraps should drop from VR 4 animals, I thought I'd just have to suck it up and do some grinding in Malabal Tor (the VR 4 zone) to get the mats ready for when I hit VR 4.
To my shock, dismay, and great annoyance VR 4 animals (at least all the mud crabs and giant snakes I killed along the coast) are still dropping Topgrain hide scraps.
This seems like a grievous oversight to me. First, if you're going to make mats for VR 4 light and heavy armor available in the VR 3 zone, you should give leather wearers the same courtesy (I'm not lobbying for all animals in the zone to always drop Ironhide, just for them to have a percentage chance). Secondly -- and I can't stress this enough --
VR 4 ANIMALS SHOULD BE DROPPING VR 4 MATS! NO MATTER WHAT! Haven't stamina users suffered enough, without making it incredibly difficult to bridge the VR 3-to-VR 4 armor gap?
I only know this to be an issue with Ironhide in the Aldmeri Dominion area, perhaps this isn't the case in other zones, or at other material level jumps, if anybody has experienced this in other zone/levels, I'd be interested to know.
I really do believe this must be an oversight in the drop-list for the VR 4 animals (otherwise, it's a rather clear message that Zeni really
does want us all running around in dresses wielding sticks... which I don't think is true), so it would be super-peachy-keen-awesome if it could be addressed at some point in the near-ish (not "soon") future.
Thanks for putting up with my rant.
