This decision is both infuriating and baffling to me. The fact that we are all still here is a testament to our dedication and patience - or perhaps our insanity. One thing for certain though is that we are not still here because of ZOS.

We're all just hanging onto the past at this point. When everything in the rear view looks better than what's ahead it's time to just let go.

I can barely maintain the desire to grind long enough to not lose enlightenment at this point and that is with experience booster and ring of Mara with a partner as well.

Ya it sux. They said adding v14 was done because they wanted a feeling if progression with the new content. That is no longer applicable in this case because we have champ points. It seems they want to buff end game player base stats to help with getting players through old content quicker and struggle through new content. At this point it would just seem like buffing current vet levels base stats is more viable. Idk though. We shall see what happens.

When they say long term they mean VERY long term. My opinion they should leave VR ranks as is and fix the whole lack of content problem. They cant just leave the game stagnant for another year while they try and remove vet ranks.

Slowly forcing myself to lvl my main - vr 8 alredy absolutly tired of grinding quests in cadwell so sitting in pvp and thats not the fast way to lvl if you dont want to do pve quests in cyro, where you go not to do pve quests in the first time. With that news -well its pve questing or pve grind without any hope vet ranks will get removed in a reasonable time period.

Yeah, I'm still sort of half-believing it is true. I guess I have to sit through a video to listen to what came out of the horses' mouths. Zeni should post a July 2015 PvP Update with all mentioned changes officially spelled out.

The good news for us, as I scramble to think of something, is we likely didn't spend a crapload of gold on gear yet. lol

IMO many people think that the removal of veteran ranks (which will happen eventually as stated in ESO live) means that everyone will basically be on the "same level"... but the XP you keep earning is being accumulated, so that means that even if the ranks are leveled (say, to level 63) then the "rank" or "level", or however they name it, will depend on the amount of XP you keep earning even after reaching VR14, so basically there is no loss of our efforts and at the same time they are making it easier for the low levels now to rank up

The grind to V16 is inconsequential for me, I will hit it in a few hours. I am grinding CP now so it doesn't matter. The short term problem is a BIG problem and that is the gear chase. Now, I always expect there to be a new level of gear to go after over time .because MMO is gonna MMO but this is sheer stupidity. We just went through the CP change which rendered a ton of builds useless and most of us at max level re-geared. In that change the PVP Elite gear was finally moved up to V14 and we chased that stuff and re-geared. That part is bad, but it is just time and gold.

The stupid part of it is that there is ZERO reason to chase/buy any piece of gear from now until V16 is in place. Why do I want to chase a V14 monster set in a dungeon I have run 20 times, why do I want to chase a Master's weapon in vDSA for the 20th time why do I want to spend any AP on soon to be obsolete "Elite Vendor Gear" or play the lotto on getting a piece in vendor bags? NONE. Some will say you do it for the fun of it.......sorry, dungeons and DSA stopped being "fun" after the 5th run. The rest of the runs were just a means to an end.

The biggest problem with this addition is it confirms the suspicions that ZOS has no idea what the heck they are doing and their lack of ability and willingness to execute on a vision. The vet grind always sucked and was a problem since day 1. They change that and start working on a massive overhaul in the Champion System to eliminate vet ranks. Now they are going to add 2 vet levels to a system they were supposedly working on removing? Add to that their huge delay in bringing this to console, their long delays of adding new content they previewed at QuakeCon 2014, their constant changes in XP gain and Vet level requirements and the change from subscription to B2P. This shoes that the leadership in this company is out of touch and completely incompetent. I actually feel sorry for the folks working there who are doing the actual work because the huge shifts in direction does nothing but add more work to to an obviously talented yet understaffed group.

Higher vet ranks will bring us...

...more possible progress by grinding exp (not needed, covered by the champion system)
...a longer grind (I know they reduce the required exp, but they could do so without adding more ranks just as well)
...more attributes (not needed, if it wasn't only 2 levels it could have a very negative impact)

what the heck were they thinking?

The cost is going to be ridiculous, especially when you factor in the loss of money you invested in your now-outdated gear, but between your four characters you're also essentially being forced to level what would be the equivalent of half an entire VR grind... To make progress in a system they've stated they're removing...

It's pretty clear they just want to make as much money for XP scrolls as they can, eff the player base...

V16 is probably going to be only for the new sets and crafted sets. If they leave max level at V14 and release new sets everyone will continue using the sets they already have, V16 will force them to get new sets to not only stack one stat.

Coherence. Your post lacks it. You appear to be trying to say that it's good for ZOS to force us to grind more and get new gear, and that we wouldn't be doing that if the new gear was v14. In what world does that make sense? V16 or not, the only thing that will incentivise us to get it is if the set bonuses are worth it - ie. better than what we have now.

Speaking as someone who crafts many sets. It is relatively cheap to craft your own gear. Let's also take into account that every time new gear has droppedal majority of players move to those sets cause they generally are better. Moreover, this is the first new gear since 1.6 has dropped which means they will be tailored to the new metas that ppl use. For instance he hinted at gear that helps fight ppl who are sheilds stacking. Yes it is inevitable that ppl will change their gear with this. Moreover, even crafted sets WI be added eventually. So whether now or later you will be changing your gear up. Bottom line is this is an evolving mmo which people must evolve with. This requires regearing to stay competitive.
