Just a disclaimer from the start: Hybrid builds are not as viable as a straight magicka or stamina build. You lose damage output by splitting your resources.

That said: If you are wanting a caster who uses melee weapons you'd probably find the skills and ultimates available to a DK more useful to a melee character.

The only really useful skills a Sorcerer has are boundless storm, bound aegis and critical surge. None of the Sorc ultimates provide much for a melee fighter.

DKs have access to various melee range magic abilities that along with abilities that basically do better versions of what boundless storm, bound aegis and critical surge can provide a sorcerer.
