Please bring target lock to consoles

On pc we could lock onto a target, and attacks would always hit that enemy instead of others that ran in between you and the target. It appears this feature was not in the console edition of the game, at least not on ps4, and it makes using ranged weapons much more frustrating.

PC has never had target lock. You could tab to select a target, but your attack would not automatically hit that target.

Yes, it would. If another target ran inbetween you and the one you were locked onto, your arrow or staff bolt or whatever you fired would hit the locked target. That was the whole reason for target lock in the first place - it was added after players griped about not being able to focus fire enemies out of a group.

Again, PC has never had a hard target lock. To this day, even if you have a target "locked" by selecting it with tab, if a rat gets in between you and the target, you are going to hit the rat.

Always worked just fine for me on pc, but I'm not talking about critters, the issue is trying to focus fire an enemy out of a group. This was not a problem on pc, but it clearly is on ps4.

I would say no thank you to this, maybe if it was a toggle-able option i would not mind. Just seems like another feature to make this game even easier, which is one of the major issues with the game.

That's like saying you don't want sights on your gun because it makes it too easy to shoot...

This is a tool, nothing more, and there's no reason something that was on the pc version of the game should be left out on consoles.

Totally agree with op in pvp I'd suggest it's needed to focus fire . What's easy is being ranged and jumping into the crowd . Easy and rage inducing for the attacker . Target lock , combat numbers and text and this might just feel like an mmo . Minor adjustments to make a major improvement.

I already have a target sight in middle of my screen..Example.. if me and you are dueling and a bear runs in between us, why would our attacks magically go through the bear like he's not standing there? It only makes sense that our attacks would hit the bear, encourages players to actually move around when fighting rather than staying static.

I may be off base but some of these suggestions sound like you want a drastic overhaul of combat. Essentially making it more old school mmo like. WoW or any other tab target snorefest comes to mind. If this is the intent then nay. Nay I say!!

This is exactly why I hope it never is implemented in PvP. One of the draws of a game like this is using the mechanics in a strategic manner: that includes having a caster getting focus fired and having a buddy in heavy armor with a shield place themselves between the attackers and the caster. If this system were in place, the attacks would just fly THROUGH the shielded tank trying to protect his pal. At that point, we might as well just switch on over to a tab-target style of combat.

    100% correct.

How is it pvp when you have target lock and can skip past aggro/taunts? Hint- it isn't pvp.

The tab target feature that exists on PC is actually the way to get around Vampire's Mist Form.
Normally, while a Vampire is in Mist he or she cannot be hit with targeted attacks.
If the player is highlighted with the tab target lock box, then it is possible to attack him or her while in Mist.

I'm not asking for anything of the sort. The target lock system was already in the game on pc.

Pc still had the soft lock / highlighting system we use now, but you could hit tab to put brackets around your current target and make that target easier to pick out from, a group of enemies.

I'm not asking for anything new, I'm asking for a system that was already in the game to be unlocked in consoles.

Target lock? Why? Pay attention to who or what you're hitting and you won't have the problem. Swinging wildly at an enemy just isn't the way I play. Isn't that what the little + sign in the middle of your screen is for?

    I'm confused.

    I'm confused.

Let me illustrate for you the situation where this most often causes problems for me:

-I'm stealthed, with my bow ready. I'm attacking a group of three enemies: a healer, a rogue, and a warrior.
-I open up on the healer. The initial attack does not kill him, but it comes close, all I need Is a couple more attacks to take that enemy out of the equation.
-before I can makeb those attacks, the other two mobs start charging at me.

With no real target control on the console version of eso, my aim automatically switches to the charging warrior/rogue, and the healer gets up, heals himself, and it's as if I had never used stealth to start the battle in the first place.

On pc, my aim would not switch to the approaching enemies because I had locked into the healer, and I'd be able to kill him in the duration of the stealth attack stun.

This is a fundamental difference in the way this game's combat functions between two platforms. There should be no major difference between the pc and console versions of the game.

I have never had my character auto-target anyone for me on PC. 0_o I am so confused at what you are talking about. If I am aiming at target A and target B steps between us, I am now hitting B. Whether I use tab to highlight A or not, I'm still hitting B until I physically reposition myself to no longer have B between myself and A.

Is there some sort of "accessibility" option you have to check in settings to access this maybe? That's the only thing I can think of, cause this is a pretty drastic change from what I've experienced.

If you target a mob and press the Tab key this box appears:

    FJNFlnJ.jpg

While pointing anywhere within the box, the triangles will be filled and the target locked on will take priority over other targets in the same general area.

If you move your crosshair outside of the box, you can target other mobs as usual, while keeping the location of the locked target marked:

    K4fyARR.jpg

The corner triangles being empty indicate the crosshair is not aiming within the box.

Have an add-on that turns my crosshair off if anyone is wondering why it is missing.

In my experience, this isn't entirely correct.

The triangles light up when you successfully have the target in your crosshairs. It isn't prioritizing that target, but simply telling you where the target is and that you are successfully aimed at it. If you accidentally target someone else, the triangles will stop being lit up until you correct your target.

Still, when you use snipe with a bow you fire at a steep angle upwards, even if something is in your way at a straight shot, you'd be firing over them to the target. This is not an unrealistic situation (or request).

If the request is to add arching to arrows so that player arrows will drop if aimed appropriately, allowing you to shoot OVER targets, then I am 100% for it. I mistook what you were asking for to think you meant that if I aim directly at a target, dead on, and something gets between me and that target that the system should make my arrows fly through the first mob and hit the second.

Actual arrow physics to shoot over NPCs would be amazing. +1 for that suggestion.
