Did you know - ESO+ members only RENT DLC and lose it when go non-ESO+?

So I just figured this out today, and it's not sitting well with me, and based on responses to another thread, this is not common knowledge...or maybe it is and I just don't read notes close enough. Anyway here goes.

Did you know that, if you're an ESO+ members, and DLC comes out, you get the DLC for free, but if you ever cancel your ESO+ members, you LOSE the DLC and have to buy it?

Cause I didn't, and this could impact my decisions moving forward.

Got a ton of crowns from ESO plus. TBH I forgot that I had it coming out of my account :/

Will buy it from that and buy crowns as necessary in the future for new zones.

Yes, thats the description for ESO+ since start of ESO+.

You do get crowns for your membership. One could use them to buy the DLCs.

Yes. But so "many" wanted this game to be non-sub, so now you have it. Rent to play or buy it. Welcome to Tamriel Limited >:)

It was pretty clearly stated since ESO Plus was announced that it would be this way. It is not a surprise.

What will be interesting to see is what the price for the DLCs will be, then we can figure out if the ESO plus is worth it or not from that aspect.

    OK, I have a question...

Everyone I've seen seems to be assuming that we will be able to buy the DLC with Crowns. Has this actually been confirmed anywhere? Are we certain that the DLC won't be made solely available via the website, where you'd be forced to pay actual cash, and couldn't use Crowns?

If someone could provide a link to a source that definitively states that the DLC will indeed be purchasable with Crowns, I'd very much appreciate it.

Somehow, I am constantly surprised by how little people actually READ ...like anything. It's pretty plainly stated that you only have the content while subscribed....unless you buy it with crowns. It's still largely irrelevant anyway since there hasn't been any content in forever...

But given how many times I seen this phrasing:

Anyways, to the OP. I was well aware that's how it works.. wouldn't make sense otherwise. Imagine DLC costs $20, why would someone buy it if they could sub for one month for $15, cancel the sub, and continue to own the $20 DLC? You're paying to rent the DLC, and hey, you get crowns and bonuses in game too.

Did you know that the subscription used to be mandatory and you had to pay for it? And if you dropped your subscription, you lost access to everything, not just DLC?

Did you know that if you drop your subscription to HBO, you cannot watch Game of Thrones until you resubscribe? But that if you buy the Game of Thrones seasons on DVD, you can watch them whenever you want, even if you drop your subscription to HBO?

Did you know that if you drop your subscription to Apple Music, you cannot stream music until you resubscribe? But that if you bought the mp3 from iTunes, you can listen to the song anytime you want, subscribed or not?

It is almost like ESO+ works exactly like every other digital subscription!

I'm sorry that you're new to dlc. But every dlc that elder scrolls has had in the past has cost something, even after you bought the game. If you bought skyrim, you didn't have the dlc's you'd have to buy them. Like always. If you bought fall out but wanted dlc's, you paid for them. Like I said, sorry you're new to dlc's but to everyone else this isn't new.

    Definitely this.

Which makes me think DLC zones are going to be around $25, obviously more than the cost of a sub to buy outright. If they were going to cost less than the sub, I reckon this may not be so enforced.

But it is a logical reason. No exploiting the system and all that.

I think the only way ZOS will change their policy is if there are insufficient numbers of ESO+ members. Given the addition of console players (most who aren't familiar with the concept of a rented DLC), I doubt that ZOS will change its policy until after the DLC is released.
