I stick with medium armor because several skills give bonus for each piece. Mixing up it drops those rates, and when it comes to stamina builds, every % matters.
But it's your character, and if skill buffs don't matter to you, I say go for it.
I run with 4 medium and 3 heavy on my nb. Mainly because my crew I quest with is an archer and 2 sorcerers so I'm pretty much well tanking while one of the sorcerers keeps me healed. I still find it very effective when playing solo.
As a stamina build Imperial NB I do the same as for other classes, 5 pieces "main role armor type" + 1 of every other armor type. So in this case all medium with exception of 1 light and 1 heavy. Heavy is usually a "big" armor piece (breast, helm, legs) and light is a "small" armor piece (I usually choose the sash). I want to have full advantage of Undaunted Mettle from the undaunted skill line.
If you already have put some CPs into stamina skill costs and stamina reg, this decision isn't that tough.

Sometimes the prey turns and nips us... it's a small thing.
So let the snow flakes and unicorns dance alone until they melt or vanish from existence, we will finish up with those smart enough to stay in the glowing circle of love.
