Just starting ESOL. Inventory size is miniscule at 60/60 and dlc treasure maps use space too (why?!) Is there a way to check crate etc contents without it going into my inventory. Seems to be a lot of pointless junk so far

Go into gameplay options (um ... I hope that's where it is - you may have to look around) and disable auto-loot.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Auto-loot saves time, but fills you bags quickly.

You can sell some at merchants, but you will occasionally have to go into inventory and delete some things to make more room.

Fortunately in starter zones merchants are relatively frequent ... just learn to use a merchant as often as possible.

Once you can afford it buy bag upgrades twice .. for 20 extra slots, then if you have a horse you can buy one extra slot per day by upgrading your horse carrying capacity (presuming you have access to a horse) ... buying more bag space upgrades before you have maxed out your horse is money inefficient in terms of cost per inventory slot, but slow ... very slow.

Remember your personal bank is additional storage space for crafting materials and you can easily create three different low level toons (bank mules) to act as storage space for no cost additional storage, just the hassle of logging in and out between toons.
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

I'm going to give you some advice, but you're not going to like it: ditch those maps

Look closely at them, and most of them won't be used for quite a while. You could store them in the bank, but that'll take precious space as well. Getting the gold to buy bag/bank space gets expensive after the second upgrade.

There are tons of chests in this game, and having used two of those maps, I can attest you won't find anything special about them the game doesn't already provide (usually with better stuff).

Destroy them. You'll not regret it. I promise. :)

My maps are for when I get to V zones .... never use a map in the non-veteran'd zones or its a waste
