Would you support ESO taking a FFXIV style break to fix it?

No I would not support that I like the game as it is it just needs maintenance.

If today ZM said they would be closing the game temporarily (for a few months) to fix all the issues, add stuff DESPERATELY needed, also to make it so there wont be so much maintenance, would you be ok with that? sort of like how ff14 did and the came out with FF14 ARR. i know i would more than welcome it. would suck, but i want this game to be what it CAN be.
You didn't play FFXIV V1 on release, did you?

I know what FFXIV V1 was, I have played that game since closed beta (and still do today) and bought several thousand Crysta to subscribe to V1 except during the time SE stopped charging subs.

No matter how bad ESO has been it wasn't remotely as bad an experience as FFXIV V1.0 was in August 2010.

Having played FFXIV both before and after ARR I question whether or not the OP had that experience. The level of change to core mechanics that went on during the redevelopment is staggering compared to what you perceive is needed in ESO. I can agree to ESO needing better patches, successful bug fixes (that don't introduce more bugs), and more content - but calling for an ARR style break for ESO is pretty ridiculous.

The start to fixing ESO is bringing back the P2P subscription model, removing the crown store except for costumes/pets/mount skins, and ending all development for consoles.

Basically it won't ever be fixed.

As most of the bug fixes are bug infested themselves....I don't see the point.
We would simply have a long wait for a new game with new and even more substantial bugs.

No game can be as bad as FF XIV 1.0 was.
I dont see any reason to shut down ESO for a few months and fix things. There are bugs and design flaws (*cough* Auction House) but nothing game breaking, at least not for me.
This bugs can be fixed on the fly. This wasnt possible with FF XIV, it was totally garbage in every way.
I like FF XIV ARR but its not worthy to pay a sub for it (IMO), even though it has improved alot.

Why cant you take a break? Theres lots of people who like ESO like its, I dont complain, at least we have somekind of endgame now as CP was introduced, CP is the main structure,1 year more and we have doubled the endgame what we have now, I can wait.

The PS4 megaserver seems to be more stable than the XBox megaserver. I do not know if that is due to the interface with Microsoft or whether XBox is more popular than PS4. I will say that PS4 seems to be the place to be on the consoles, based on the XBox comments.

I really don't want a text chat box on console. This was the right decision. They do need to make a few changes and people need to learn how to use it and need to get over the fear of speaking. Other threads, so I won't elaborate.

As for the audio quality and background noises, the most frequent thing I hear in the game is people playing the game, mostly game music and dialog in the background. Some people talk to themselves when they play. On rare occasion, there is someone interacting with people outside of the game. There needs to be an easily accessible mute feature so that people can unmute, talk, and mute without navigating through menus for 30 minutes.

That's not what FF:XIV did... They shut down the game completely, fired the whole design team, hired a completely new team, and then completely redid the game from the ground up. It was also more than a few months, AFAIK it was at least a year. And the decision was taken only a few months after the launch of the original, not after more than a year.

From another thread, but it fits here.

Some day, a team of developers should design an MMO from the ground up that does the following:
    • Eliminate leveled zones. Your character can travel literally anywhere
    • Integrate a failsafe worldwide PvP that is gank-proof, that is off by default
    • Design your character to be an average Joe, who can stumble in to the world-saving quest by his choice, or just be a working stiff in the gaming world
    • All quests would be either groupable or soloable; choice left up to the player
    • Enemies would have a variable difficulty, scaled to the player's strength, with difficulty slider included

Yeah, spittin' in the wind, but a guy can dream.

Yeah, and one day men and women will be able to understand each other. I think that'll happen first, actually.

I don't see what's wrong with the game. They already overhauled it once. It is night and day since the original release. Sure there are some bugs, some issues, but please, I challenge you to find a game that doesn't have any.

I personally am having a blast on the console. Granted in not at "endgame content" yet, but I don't see what the issue is. There is no game withan unlimited amount of content, so in the end, the players that progress fast will usually get burnt out and clamor for, more content because they played the game for 7+ hours a day. There is plenty of content in this game and if they are working on bugs more then pushing out new content, I feel bad for the PC players who have been in a stop with new content forever, but other then that, keep fixing the game and release content at your leisure. The quicker they rush the more issues pop up.

But really, to shut down the game for, months to rework everything? You realize the very first day of popped up there would be countless more bugs that they couldn't find without the server stress from all the players online. No beta cam account for real server strain unless they open the gates for everyone. If they did that, players that found bugs in the game would freak out after it was shut down for months.

Why not just let them do their thing. They are the devs. No matter what anyone says the game still is playable, very playable, and they seem to be fixing bugs...if you want to take a break for a couple months....other games are

I have changed my mine, I won't support this game anymore. So they can do what they want, the game is dead or will be very soon. Unless they change the top management there is not going to be any change with the game. Unless they bring in good developers and keep them so they know how the code works, you just can't outsource the way they are doing. The game has so many bugs an the management only want to do stupid stuff like put new skins in crown store.

You're talking about the console version during its first couple of weeks or so, some issues are inevitable and will be fixed. Downtime is always a problem at any launch and will improve before long. Other design issues such as the lack of chat box may also get dealt with in time.

If you're only suggesting taking the console version down then you should have made that clear in the opening post. I have no experience of that version as consoles are of no interest to me, but I've been playing the PC version since launch and there is no cause to take that version down. I know the PvPers have problems still with Cyrodiil but that doen't seem to stop them queuing up to take part in PvP, and as a PvEer I've had very little in the way of problems with the game in 16 months or so and am very happy with the present state of the game.

FFXIV, on the other hand, was a complete design mess at original launch and would never have survived without a total rewrite.

No, console release a year late should have been ESO's realm reborn moment.

What they need to do is patch all the broken stuff that's making proper balance and difficulty passes impossible.

Health desync, gap closer bugs, resistances and penetration. It seriously cannot be that difficult to fix those things.

Then they could fix the tooltips to reflect how things actually work in the game, and the character sheet so it actually displays all the stats and effects on your character.

Then a balance and difficulty pass.

    Then content.

That's what the next month should look like IMO, no need to take the servers down to do any of it.

I play on console, not insulted or anything, but I am very sure that the economics of used resources (personnel, money) versus larger customer base and revenue is a no-brainer here. Having the console community means much more in operating revenue. It probably was a case of one step backward, 2 steps forward for PC players. You've only seen the one step backward so far.

As to op, I played FFIV after relaunch, it is neat but not worth a sub to me. From everything I have ever read, they had to re-do the programming/coding and the entire mechanics of how the game operated were changed. I like combat, crafting, exploring, the quests, etc. in this game. They'll slog through the bugs, add new content, tweak current systems. Are you honestly saying you want combat re-vamped, as in everything from how you target enemies to how attack speed, armor penetration, damage versus armor protection, etc are done?

Rather than the original posters idea, I would like a seperate forum for console players.

Your concerns are not mine. I will be playing this game long after you have left (average console game life span is 3 months or so)

Some of the "Massive fixes" listed above are laughable. A barbour shop? Single Auction House?

I would love a single auction house, I would make millions and all you would get for your "convieniance" is a single point of fail.
